Louden Swain warms up to “Lunatic Fringe” before taking on Shute. In the original 1979 novel by Terry Davis, the story ends right after Louden runs out and the whistle blows. We never learn the outcome of the match. Win or lose, Louden had accomplished what he set out to do and faced his challenge. #VisionQuest If you’d like to support the @FMJDiary project, you can bid on a signed 1985 vinyl soundtrack album here: ebay.us/m/vy6PxR

I’m often asked about the pegboard scene in VISION QUEST. That was all me. No stunt doubles or safety measures. I trained for a long time and had to climb it several times to get all the angles. The “trick” is not to over extend, so you’d be pulling up your entire body weight. You have to keep it compact. Arms and elbows tight. 💪🏽 You can support the @FMJDiary project by bidding on a signed VQ poster here: ebay.com/itm/206252131912

“The hardest thing that I’ve ever chosen to do in my life was walking in space,” Glover told Cal Poly president Jeffrey Armstrong, per The Athletic. “The second-hardest thing that I ever chose to do in my life was wrestling practice with Lennis Cowell,” @CalPolyWrestle longtime wrestling coach.

Pretty cool note I got from a tech CEO/founder who watched NCAAs about hiring wrestlers: “I'll say this: without question my favorite hiring profile is a D3 All-American wrestler. You competed in the darkness. No lights, no crowd, sometimes literally no one watching. You showed up anyway and you figured it out. Give me 10 of those guys and they're worth 50 fancy Ivy League degrees. Every time. The mat doesn't lie.” Thoughts?

Thank you Todd for telling the whole story. Wirfs was 6-1 versus Linderbaum. Here are a few highlights from their other meetings. They are both great football players and individuals and it is exciting to see both of their success.

This is awesome! Iowa HS wrestling is one of the least discussed hot beds for college and NFL OL talent.

If I was a high school football coach wrestling would be mandatory for all big guys on the team as track would be mandatory for all athletes on team.

📢 Girls wrestling is growing, but coaching must grow with it. 📊 Only 35% of HS girls programs have a dedicated head coach. 📈Programs that do, have rosters 60% larger.
