My Chemical Romance who had absurd pricing to start this tour dynamically lowered this show. $8.61 is the new face value. $21.29 for the service fee. So service fees cost more than 200% than the actual band / promoter gets?!?!? #paystowait

Yesterday's FIFA ticket shenanigans 1) Unexpected resale block for Iraq-Norway 80 minutes before match time. All tickets for $287.50. 2) A few tickets snapped up within minutes. 3) Empty block visible in stadium, then filled with FIFA volunteers in yellow when game began

Someone's in their feels today. 🙄
Official attendance figures reflect the number of tickets scanned and spectators present within the stadium footprint, rather than visual assessments of seating occupancy at any given moment during the match. FIFA works closely with stadium authorities and ticketing teams to ensure all published figures are based on verified operational data. Please note that, during last night’s match in Guadalajara, several ticketed fans could be seen standing in concourses rather than staying in their assigned seats throughout the match.
Community note
Photos from the match show thousands of empty seats throughout the stadium, contradicting the claim of only several fans in concourses. nytimes.com/athletic/73524… yahoo.com/news/world/art…

We have the smoking gun. An event promoter holding back and then dumping never sold tickets as "resale" to manipulate prices. Journalists! this is a HUGE story.
I received an interesting update to my post about FIFA dumping inventory onto 3rd-party resale platforms from an expert industry insider: "One thing you didn't notice/mention in your Seatgeek tweet, is those seats are marked as INSTANT DELIVERY. Not just "In-Hand Now". [...] These listings from FIFA show up on Seatgeek as "Instant Delivery" meaning, the tickets are instantly deposited into the buyer's FIFA account directly. No transfer required. So when you click on "Show Instant Delivery Only" on Seatgeek on the various matches, it will instantly show you all the listings that are from FIFA directly. They have been listing Cat 1 for M4, the high row 200-levels, on Seatgeek for several weeks now at $1,300ish (face value $2,735). Also instant delivery. And if you zoom into those sections on FIFA marketplace, none of those were ever posted there. Because they were never sold."

Yesterday available FIFA inventory suddenly dropped from 74k to 30k tickets. It's the post-Covid US ticketing model: 1) start with high prices 2) slowly release inventory 3) occasionally remove supply 4) steer seats to hospitality 5) only cut prices if absolutely necessary

At least 80K tickets were released in FIFA's ticket drop yesterday, more than tripling FIFA-direct availability to 115K seats, per TicketData. The actual release was likely larger, since that figure reflects remaining availability observed roughly 6 hours after the drop. Surprisingly, about 1/3 of the release appears to have already sold. #FIFAWorldCup #WorldCup #FIFA #WorldCup2026

A lot of people don't realize the ways in which event promoters and sports teams are manipulating ticket supply through the sale and resale markets in ways that did not used to be possible. The whole notion of periodic "ticket drops" should get you asking questions.
I'm personally excited about the World Cup but there is a *lot* of ticket inventory for the group stage (like literallly 5m tickets to sell) without a lot of premium matchups. I don't think anyone should be in a rush to buy tix. Knockout stage and USA/MEX/CAN matches maybe.

The Philadelphia 76ers’ geographic purchase restrictions worked to keep Knicks fans away… and all fans away. Blue and red dot fever as prices have crashed nearly 50% since the series was confirmed!

"Each release masks the reality: if sales were truly there, limited sales wouldn’t be necessary. The tickets would already be sold. You’ve told us how much demand there is for the tournament. Who are we to believe?" #WorldCup #PaysToWait
I read @HenryBushnell's piece on the price of @FIFAWorldCup tickets falling and thought about today's "limited" on-sale... And, I thought...may as well share my thinking about @FIFA and the World Cup and the breakdown of the extraction machine that FIFA was counting on in this World Cup. #tickets #sportsbiz open.substack.com/pub/talkin…

Meghan Trainor, Zayn, Post Malone/Jelly Roll tours cancelled thus far in 2026. Who do you think is next to pull the plug? Pussycat Dolls? "Weird Al" Yankovic?
I love Zayn. I will always defend him. im also not going to pretend that it’s not clear why some shows were cancelled.🤷🏻‍♀️ They waited to see how the $30 sale went & made the final tough call. These are screenshots I took on Wednesday of this wk. #zayn #zaynmalik #konnakol

Scalpers are a symptom. Dynamic pricing, platinum tickets, surge pricing at the original sale — that's the disease. Ontario's law caps resale but doesn't touch any of that. Here's why fans deserve legislation that goes after the whole problem. zurl.co/KEEFq
