We’re often not even invited to speak at longevity conferences because we’re seen as too weird and too controversial. But when we do get the chance, people realize there’s something there. It’s cool that the field has so much funding. I have nothing against partial reprogramming. But what if it doesn’t work? We could waste billions and a couple of decades on one hypothesis, and end up with nothing but investors disappointed in the field — the same thing that happened with antioxidants, senolytics, telomeres… If the goal is not just to make a lot of money on the next IPO, but to really solve the problem while the people we love are still alive, we should test multiple hypotheses and their combinations simultaneously — quickly and cheaply.
