???? You now need rocketeer parts for making wolfpacks? But Rocketeer itself needs 2 wolfpacks to kill!

Adobe has officially WALKED BACK discontinuing support for Adobe Animate! Adobe Animate will NOT be going anywhere for the immediate future! Sometimes, enough backlash towards a decision can actually work. Awesome to see for all the animators who use this product independently and within the industry as well!

While I’m glad Animate is no longer being delisted, I am still extremely disappointed that Adobe has given up on Animate. Animate is such a powerful tool and now I know they’ll never fix their biggest bugs or issues keeping them soaring higher. There are no equivalents to what i like most about Animate that i can find… I have been abandoned by the program I’m senior in now.
I just shared an update on Adobe Animate over on reddit (/r/adobeanimate), and given the conversations on X, wanted to also share here. Its a bit long, as there is a lot of info, so I also included a screenshot of the core info on Animate. TLDR: We have made some changes to to our plans for Adobe Animate, and it will continue to be available for both new and existing users Hey everyone, my name is Mike Chambers, and I work on the community team at Adobe (and am a long time Flash / Animate user). Yesterday, Adobe shared an email with Adobe Animate customers on the future of Animate. What we shared did not meet our standards and caused a lot of confusion and angst within the community. On behalf of Adobe, I want to apologize. While an email to all Animate customers will go out shortly, I wanted to quickly share a few things: 1) our standard approach for applications in maintenance mode, 2) changes to our plans for Adobe Animate and its status, and 3) our commitments to ensuring that you always have access to your content, regardless of the state of development of an application. Standard Approach for Applications in Maintenance Mode If we deprioritize active development of an application, our approach is to move that application into maintenance mode with continued support. Under maintenance mode, the application will continue to be available, will continue to receive security and bug fixes, but will not get new features. If we decide to go a step further and discontinue a product, we will work closely with the community to ensure they have adequate time to plan in order to minimize disruption and will take steps so that the community continues to have long-term access to their content. Current State of Adobe Animate Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode. While we are no longer adding new features to Animate, we will continue to support it and provide ongoing security and bug fixes. More importantly, Animate will continue to be available for both new and existing users. This is a change from what we communicated in the email yesterday for the status of Adobe Animate, its time-frame, and availability. To be clear, we are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate and it will continue to be available to both existing and new customers. Commitments for long-term content/file Access For Adobe Animate, our commitment is to work with the community to ensure users continue to have long term access to their content, regardless of the state of development of the application. On a personal note, as someone who started their career with Macromedia Flash 3 and Macromedia Generator, Adobe Animate has a special place in my heart. I know how frustrating and stressful this has been and we clearly could have handled and communicated this better. I might not have answers to everything, but I will try to answer any questions you might have.

Bros, I don't think Adobe listened to us at all, they listened to the stock price.

Well, I finally bought @MohoAnimation Software. The FORANIMATORS discount of $100 off still works. Can you add a symbol like feature?

What we initially shared is not accurate. Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode, which means we will continue to provide security and bug fixes but are no longer adding new features. Animate will continue to be available for both current and new customers. We are committed to ensuring you have access to your content. Learn more here: adobe.ly/4adKk5k
Community note
As of 2/2/2026, the original post was accurate as Adobe sent out an email about discontinuing Animate. On 2/3/2026 Adobe said they were going to continue support. community.adobe.com/announcements-… helpx.adobe.com/animate/kb/mai…

To everyone who told me writing letters, open letters, and tagging Adobe wouldn't work, I would like you to see this. Adobe is reversing course on their decision to discontinue Animate. When enough people complain, usually progress gets made. The pen is mighty! Thanks to everyone who voiced their concerns, and mad respect to Mike. 👏

No longer being discontinued “for now” I know it’s hard to migrate to new software, but I really think that people should try and find alternatives, and stop paying Adobe money.

Okay Adobe Animate users. We ready to kickstart and crowdfund an animation program that is like Flash with a few more bells and whistles? Better drawing tools, but the same accessible timeline-jump-in-make-a-short-film-and-go ease of use? Full ownership etc. #adobeanimate

I’m one of the only people I know who used @adobeanimate for STORYBOARDING (see below). I didn’t just rely on #adobeanimate for animation… I found it to be my go-to just for DRAWING in general - preferring it even to Photoshop. It was the closest thing I’d ever used that felt intuitive to just sitting down and animating on paper. Moving away from this basic philosophy is one step closer to turning us all into vessels for the machine instead of operators of the machine. (Yeah yeah… “Old man yells at clouds”… get bent)

Adobe announced yesterday that Adobe Animate will be getting its support discontinued on March 1st. Along with that, it will be making the last version TOTALLY UNAVAILABLE and all files unusable starting in March 2027 The ENTIRE animation community is FURIOUS about this, and it's very easy to see why. This is a very popular and widely used animation tool not only taught in schools how to use but still widely used within the industry itself! Below are just some examples of animation both studio and online that used and use the software to create/partly create their shows! I don't know if there's a chance they go back on it, but needless to say, the backlash is severe, and it's extremely disheartening to see it happen.

What upsets me about Adobe Animate being discontinued is how little they care about giving their longtime users ways to preserve their project files. Like, they literally made everyone's files inaccessible. Like ... why?! They know that studios use their software too, right?
