Yes - emphatically so.
26 of the 27 books in the N.T. directly warn about false doctrine and/or false teachers (only Philemon does not). We are commanded by scripture to mark, avoid, expose (Rom. 16:17; Titus 1:9; Eph. 5:11; 2 John 9-11) and there is even precedent for calling them out by name (2 Tim. 4:10; 1 Tim. 1:19-20; 2 Tim. 1:15; 2 Tim. 2:15, 17; 3 John 9).
This is not even up for debate. It must be done with care, however. All heresy is error, but not all error is heresy. We must not call anyone a false teacher for error on non-essential doctrines, but for objective heresy, for false prophecies, for faking signs and wonders, and for exploiting the poor and the sick for personal financial gain.
Should Christians publicly call out false teachers? Why or why not?
