Almost a year later and that bug is still there, not to mention the FPS degradation after 30min of play and random broken things with Meta’s A/B tests. What a disaster.

Still not fixed in latest v2.1 OS and on top of that, the Horizon portal sometimes pops in your face preventing you from interacting with anything else.

VR Developers, don’t use the Meta XR SDK to develop your games. Whether you use Unity or Unreal, you should use the built-in OpenXR support in the engines. The Meta XR SDK only works with Quest & Link; it is a buggy mess hardcoded to not work with other runtimes and headsets.

Hey @boztank, your quality control failed again. v77 went out with game breaking bugs that affect everyone. Audio crackling (reported weeks ago), audio cutting out when you switch to passthrough, VP8 video no longer working, MediaCodec freezes, etc. Good job ignoring all the reports during PTC and pushing your update anyway..

Big update today! Version 1.34 features a brand new macOS Streamer that was re-written from scratch. It now has the lowest latency and best frame rate compared to all the other streaming solutions out there (better than Mac Virtual Display on Vision Pro for example). Meta copied my app from 2020, destroyed it with firmware, then tried to poach my engineering team. Just to sunset their copy 5 years later. Reality labs is ran by absolute clowns and they deserve to lose the VR race.

There are allegations Meta has been deliberately undermining the @OpenXR standard with their OVRPlugin blocking non-Meta headsets not on PCVR, or if they're not using Oculus Link. I spoke with @VRDesktop's Guy Godin who corroborates the main claims that were originally made in a technical write-up by Matthieu Bucchianeri on February 8th and 11th. @thekhronosgroup also made a rare public statement on Feb 21 implicitly recommending folks not use Meta's plug-in, but rather one of the game engine OpenXR plug-ins if you want "support building OpenXR applications that are compatible with multiple vendors' OpenXR conformant devices." I have received no comment from Meta yet, and more details can be seen in my write-up with links to more of the technical details as well as corroboration from Godin. Godin tells me that he started hearing complaints of non-compatibility starting with Meta's Integration SDK v51 released on April 25, 2023, and he believes that these are deliberate actions. Bucchianeri also claims to have confirmation from Meta in private communications when he says, "This is not an accident: this concern was reported to Meta early in 2024 via official means in the Khronos group. Meta acknowledged purposedly blocking other platforms from running OpenXR content at that time."
