PWO Statement on Budget 2024
ALT Summarised PWO statement on Budget 2024. Today, the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Public Expenditure announced the measures that will be implemented in the year 2024. Budget 2024 fails to address any of the issues faced by PhD researchers. Context: On the 26th of June 2023, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Skills (DFHERIS) released the initial report of the National Review of State Supports for PhD Researchers. According to the DFHERIS, this review would inform any changes implemented in this year’s budget. Nonetheless, Budget 2024 does not make any reference to any changes to the current state of finance or status of PhD researchers. We also note the IUA published a statement in response to the Budget today which, likewise, neglects to mention PhD researchers.
