Read this. All the way through. Think of the babies in your life. You cannot hate Israel or their ghoulish society enough, but try.
There are moments in Gaza when suffering becomes so ordinary that people stop asking for solutions.
They begin asking only for the smallest relief. A little less pain.
A child who sleeps through the night.
When I entered the clinic that morning, I noticed a young woman carrying a baby so small that I could not tell whether the child was a newborn or simply made tiny by hardship.
When her turn came, she gently placed the baby on my desk and said:
“I want any cream you have.” Any cream. Not a specific medicine. Not a particular treatment.
Just anything.
She uncovered the baby and showed me the severe rash covering much of the child’s fragile skin.
“I treat the baby with whatever free creams I can find in clinics,” she explained.
“Anything helps.”
As she spoke, I noticed something else. The baby was not wearing a diaper. Only pieces of cloth.
I asked why.
“I can’t afford diapers,” she replied calmly. “I wash these and use them again.”
Then she added that they were living in a tent and that her husband had suffered a serious foot injury and was unable to work.
“I’m not asking for much,” she said.
“I only want a cream.”
But what caught my attention most was not the rash.
It was the malnutrition.
The baby was severely underweight. The kind of malnutrition that is visible before any examination even begins.
So I asked the mother whether she had noticed.
She nodded. “Yes, I know.”
Then she said something I cannot forget: “When the baby gets older, things will get better.”
Not because she truly believed it.
But because hope was cheaper than treatment.
And treatment was something she could no longer afford. That was the moment that broke me.
Not the tent. Not the poverty. Not even the illness.
But the fact that this mother had lowered her expectations so much that she no longer dreamed of proper medical care, diapers, or adequate nutrition.
She came asking for the smallest thing she could imagine. A tube of cream.
Any cream.
Something that might make the baby hurt a little less.
The baby could not have been more than five months old.
Too young to understand war. Too young to understand poverty. Yet already carrying both on that tiny body.
There is something profoundly cruel about a world in which a mother’s greatest hope for her child is no longer a better future.
Only a little less suffering tonight.

Iranian negotiators involved in ongoing peace talks with Washington have recently integrated senior psychologists into their diplomatic team to review all communications intended for US President Donald Trump, believing him to be "legitimately mentally ill" and operating in a "mentally incapacitated" state.
According to investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill, who cited Iranian sources during a 12 June "Breaking Points" podcast episode, these experts were added to the team a few weeks ago to help navigate what the Iranians describe as a clinical challenge.
By developing a psychological profile of the President, the negotiators have begun "catering" their messages—running them past the psychologists before delivery through mediators—to better suit his perceived mental state.
Sources indicate this approach, which treats the President essentially as a "patient," has already yielded progress in negotiations.
This "clinical diplomacy" comes as Trump faces renewed scrutiny regarding his physical and mental fitness as he approaches his 80th birthday.
Recent reports of him dozing off during meetings and exhibiting various physical symptoms have heightened international concerns, leading the Iranian team to adopt this unconventional, medically-informed strategy for their high-stakes diplomatic interactions.

We express deep concern and outrage at the Israeli High Court’s decision to reject the petition of the Association of International Development Agencies (AIDA) and 18 other international humanitarian organizations against the new registration procedure established by the Israeli government.
The procedure violates core humanitarian principles of independence and neutrality, and conditions humanitarian operations on irrelevant political considerations. The requirement to disclose sensitive personal data of Palestinian staff constitutes a breach of organizations’ duty of care, exposing their employees to surveillance and harm, not to mention that it would compel organizations to violate the privacy laws to which they are bound.
The court’s decision lends support to a policy that enables Israel to restrict the operations of international humanitarian organizations working in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and in the Gaza Strip, and thus bars Palestinians’ access to life-saving aid and essential services.
While Gaza residents face an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe following more than two and a half years of Israel’s attacks, and West Bank residents experience economic crisis and unchecked violence by settlers and Israeli security forces, Israel is using its control over humanitarian access to deepen the harm inflicted on Palestinians, all while abdicating its obligations as an occupying power under international law.
Rather than compelling the state to fulfill its obligations toward the protected population living under its control, the court has provided further backing for this policy.
We call on the international community to take concrete steps to ensure residents of the occupied Palestinian territory full, continuous, and unimpeded access to humanitarian aid and services; to protect the lives and rights of Palestinians; and to hold Israel accountable for its obligations as an occupying power under international law.
