Check out our new paper on death in animated films! Check out @enrica_b_ thread below. It amazing it was the get to work with her! She combined her interest in media with our work on children's understanding of death, and designed some cool studies. All as an undergrad!
Excited to share that my first paper ever is now available online! authors.elsevier.com/a/1d7Yq…. Clicking on this link will give you free access to the whole paper until July 14th. Now for some highlights!

If you are interested in mathematical thinking, gesture, or strategy choice, please check out our (gif) poster -- right here! We looked at how people gesture when explaining fraction magnitude comparisons. With @AlexViegut @amdonovan2 @SarahABrown5 and Percival Matthews.

"Working independently" does NOT mean "work by yourself with no guidance." Science is a collaborative field, and you are in grad school to receive training and learn from others.

Myself and several other awesome researchers have designed this study in an effort to better understand how kids learn algebra! If you know any 6th-8th graders in the US who are interested in participating (virtual study!) feel free to send this gorgeous infographic their way ☺️

I have a new pre-print with Karl Rosengren and his awesome lab at @UofR Back in April we asked parents to tell us about the conversations they have with their children about the COVID-19 pandemic. We were interested in their child's questions and how parents responded 1/x

For anyone out there wondering why @AOC’s speech is getting so much attention, it’s because while she’s speaking for herself, she is not only speaking for herself. She is telling the story of literally millions of women.

LOVE this definition of independence in science! Mentors - I request that you: 1. Believe this definition for yourself 2. Explicitly communicate this definition whenever you encourage trainees to "be independent." #AcademicTwitter #phdchat #phdlife #mentorship
Replying to @dacolon
Independence in science does not mean crawling into a corner to figure things out w/o help or mentorship. Might sound paradoxical, but independence in science means thinking for yourself and knowing where to go to ask for help to learn effectively

Research flourishes in collaborative environments that promote physical and #mentalhealth, and provide a safe space for the exchange of ideas. As a result, showing compassion, understanding, and respect is part of the definition of a successful scientist. #AcademicTwitter
