It takes a Village. Could not have done this without the resources and intellectual camaraderie at @IcahnMountSinai #Microbiology, the clever perseverance of Axel Guzman-Solis, and the generous collaborators from across the country and in the U.K. 1/ What if we could stop a deadly virus not by blocking one doorway, but by locking two at once? New in @ScienceTM: our team developed a two-antibody strategy against Nipah and Hendra viruses, two bat-borne paramyxoviruses with pandemic potential. science.org/eprint/F8QDVNKDX…. #ScienceTranslationalMedicineResearch

Absolutely agree with this. I’ve done my best over the years to really learn who I am to help others know how to fit with me and how I can fit with others. Figuring out the fit is important.
A PhD's success depends more on the fit between the student, the advisor, and the lab than on the specific topic being studied (it barely matters at all). Similarly, a lab's success depends more on how excited (or miserable) its researchers are than on the precise project they are working on (it could be virtually anything). This information isn't in papers or in grant proposals, you have to ask the researchers.

Voyager 1 is 24 billion kilometers from Earth. It communicates with us using a 23-watt transmitter. Less than a refrigerator light bulb. The signal takes 22 hours to reach us, traveling at the speed of light. By the time it arrives, it's 20 billion times weaker than the power of a digital watch battery. NASA's Deep Space Network picks it up using 70-meter dish antennas cooled to near absolute zero to reduce electronic noise. The engineering required to hear a 23-watt signal from 24 billion km away is arguably more impressive than the spacecraft itself. Launched 1977. Still transmitting. Still being heard. We built something that works perfectly, 47 years later, in conditions no one has ever tested in. That's what engineering for the long term looks like.

Sunday morning workout and mixed grill lunch at Monster Western stall. It doesn’t look great but tastes fine enough once you brush off the excess sauces. Healthy hawker food is still a concept rather than reality but you can pick through things to get half way there.

Lau Pa Sat is getting quite a makeover and has many new hawker stalls coming in. Looks like Gen Z is running a lot of these. These dumplings are delicious and fiery and as healthy as chili oil can be!! 😋

The secret to my 5am workouts is the Insane Labz Psychotic preworkout powder with extra Beta Alanine for skin crawling shivers. This caffeinated bomb teleports me into the future and when I come back I’m never exactly where I started but I’m always just a little bit more gorgeous. To bystanders and onlookers, I’m a little jittery…like in the video. To me, I melt into the universe. 🤩

Credit: Carletto_the_pug on instagram Stay weird my friends! Tomorrow, at school or at work, find a crack in the wall, or the door, or a cupboard or drawer, and stare into it long and deep like you are seeing your best life. Do it until your colleagues notice, look at them, then turn back and keep staring. Stay weird!

One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen: a standing ovation for the full Daraxonrasib results I feel inspired and energised, to put it mildly — we have a targeted therapy for pancreatic cancer now, and nothing is undruggable anymore

My personal trainer thinks my dosage of pre-workout powder is too high. He won’t come near me.

Hey Europic 2026! While I could not attend (again), our lab’s PhD student Szarina Krisha Ko is there and will present her work on saRNA vaccines. She’s there all alone so please find her and hang out with her - she’s very cool. Ask her about her work! Here she is:

Now adding a daily 5km to my training, but only thanks to @Nike magic ZoomX shoes. If you need a middle aged brand ambassador, I’m waiting….with no active followers though. The rest of you, try them out. They do make you feel like you run better than you do. Gym in the morning. Run afternoon. Join us?!

This is a note to a special student that needs to hear it. But then I realized it resonates with many people and everyone. So adding it here for good vibes for everyone! Thrive!
