Passing too closely is a recipe for disaster. If you see a bicyclist🚴♀️, keep your distance! It’s okay to pass bicyclists🚴♀️ when they can’t pedal as fast as your car🚗. Just make sure you give them plenty of space. Give them room to roll! 🚲↔️🚗 #WorldBicycleDay@VisionZeroMC
The MCPD teamed up with the talented students of Laytonsville Elementary for a fun and creative painting project. Together, they transformed a speed camera into a colorful, one‑of‑a‑kind design that reflects the spirit of their school.
As Montgomery County continues to expand its automated enforcement program, projects like this help students understand how these tools protect them every day. Speed cameras play a vital role in keeping our neighborhoods safe by encouraging drivers to slow down and stay alert.
The message is simple: drive carefully, protect our students, and help keep every member of our community safe on the road.

Montgomery County is expanding automated speed enforcement with new highly visible mobile cameras placed in high-risk areas like school zones and crash-prone roads. Two of these cameras were painted by children who attended MCPD’s Take Your Child to Work Day, adding a creative design element to the units. These fully automated cameras are designed to encourage safer driving and help reduce speeding in areas where it matters most. Slow down, stay alert, and drive responsibly.

Two dangerous choices.
One goal: keeping kids safe.
Slow down. Stop for the bus.
