It has been empty for years. Anders Fernstedt has lived on its porch in a makeshift tent for three years. The property was built in the early 1980s by billionaire Rafik Hariri, Lebanon's future prime minister, who merged multiple townhouses. After his 2005 assassination, it passed to Saudi crown prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz.

Bacteria pseudomonas aeruginosa was found on a shower head in Elliot's isolation room on 1 August 2022—more than a week before his admission. A company owned by the trust, Gloucestershire Managed Services, detected the contamination but did not report it to the ward manager or infection control team.
