This team is creating an AI-powered application that translates spoken words into real-time Ugandan Sign Language (USL) through an interactive avatar.
Unlike generic transcription tools, this solution is tailored to Uganda’s linguistic context and Makerere University’s academic environment, ensuring that Deaf students can independently access online lectures, YouTube tutorials and offline audio resources without waiting for a physical interpreter.
This innovation guarantees inclusivity, academic freedom and equal participation in the digital learning space.
