Statements like "contact sports cause CTE" are misleading and a major component of why the narrative is outpacing the science. "CTE is associated with playing contact sports in former athletes who donated their brain to a CTE brain bank" would be more appropriate.

Interesting that Huntington's disease (HD) researchers do not claim that CAG repeats cause suicide in HD patients. In contrast, some #CTE researchers characterize suicide as a core symptom, resulting from the presence of abnormal tau. Go figure. n.neurology.org/content/92/1…

I am happy to announce that I am retiring today from my full-time position as a clinician, educator, and researcher at NYU Medical Center. I have learned a lot from my patients, students, and colleagues over the past 23 years here at NYU. On to a new chapter!
