Access to safe blood can mean the difference between life and death during childbirth. Voluntary blood donors play a vital role in reducing preventable maternal deaths and ensuring women receive timely care when complications arise. Give blood. Save lives. #OneDropOfHumanity #WorldBloodDonorDay

Good news! Safe blood supplies have been expanding worldwide, increasing steadily over the past decade. More than 120 million blood donations were made in 2023, and over 85% of whole blood donations came from voluntary unpaid donors. Yet, access to safe blood remains deeply unequal. Stronger investment in national blood systems is critical to ensure that everyone can access life-saving transfusions. Learn more bit.ly/4eeY17z #GiveBlood

One blood donation can make a life-saving difference. Across Africa, safe blood is essential for mothers during childbirth, children with severe anaemia, trauma victims, surgical patients and many others in need of urgent care. As we mark #WorldBloodDonorDay this Sunday, we celebrate the heroes who give blood and save lives. #OneDropOfHumanity #WorldBloodDonorDay

I know how committed @WHO is to supporting the #Ebola outbreak response in #DRC. But the entire @UN system is equally committed.  Take our sister agency @WFP, who I call “The Wings of the Response,” thanks to their UNHAS flights that bring experts and humanitarians to the field.  In Bunia, capital of Ituri Province, I have also seen how WFP is implementing local solutions to access to nutritious food, helping local restaurants provide local food to the local communities. Thank you WFP for all you do. x.com/wfp/status/20650331325…
