We've continued our rewilding of the grassy areas in school by adding native wildflowers for pollinators. Let's hope they really thrive!

All our amphibians need homes. If you don't have a pond, why not consider digging one, ready for them in the spring. Even a small pond will make a wonderful home for frogs and newts. derbyshirewildlifetrust.org.…

We've been VERY busy, despite the lack of posts! Just before Christmas, we planted wildflowers plug plants in the turning circle area - look out for the white labels and please keep off the area so they can grow!

This is an amazing resource. If every family in our school did a bit of this, nature across our area would be grateful. Watch the videos and see how easy (and cheap) it is to make a difference! youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…

Our solitary bees have emerged for another year! Please keep off the bank next to the main gate so they can live undisturbed. They are harmless and fascinating - why not take a look as you pass? Well done to Olivia for capturing a video!

Reserve of the Week #4 Cressbrook Dale NNR This is one of my favourite bits of Derbyshire and at its best in May - you'll see thousands of wildflowers and hear singing skylarks. It's an amazing place!

We've been working to create long-grass areas for wildlife and cordoned them off this week. We sowed wildflower seeds as well - let's hope they grow!

Could you help our local Holymoorside toads? Each spring, many are killed as they cross the road by the river bridge next to the park just after dusk. Could you spend half and hour watching for them and helping them across? Toads have declined by 70% in the last 30 years.
