#socialChange can be achieved if #leaders aim to help #followers understand the reason why there is a different reason and mentality for it - this is often done via #storyTelling which can be a positive way to reframe a discourse and show a different #perspective - #OUB329 WK17
#OUB329 WK16 dissolves the image of #leadership having a single person who gives purpose or direction, instead through #activistLeadership it points that #leaders are structured horizontally and through #democraticPractices everybody can take part in the decision making.
Also another interesting thing I found was that #activistLeadership usually cultivates diversity and don’t see differences as a negative thing, instead they use it as a drive and momentum it created. Reminded me a lot of #constructiveDissent
#OUB329 WK15 was a real eye opener because I usually steer away from resistance to avoid conflict, but learning that #leaders will always have those resisting whatever is being said or worked on. Needles to say I have always seen #resistance as a negative thing. (1/2)
#ResistanceLeadership is not a negative thing. Given the right cause, it can benefit those who are silenced and do not know how to act. Taking leadership in such times can help things change for a win-win situation and the opposers will again follow the leader. (2/2)
The concept of #LeadershipBased approach seems like a good option for such problems when it reaches a global scale and help from local organisations is needed to understand the differing factors that each location have to solve a #WickedChallenge of this type (2/2)
#OUB329 in WK11 What stood out was that #conflicts are not always negative, it can provide new perspectives and ideas to #leaders. It also touches on the importance not to ignore the voices of those who don’t have power as their dissent might be constructive too!
#OUB329 WK10 has taught me that #FollowerCentredLeadership creates a complex system where influence’s generated, but #colaboration between followers can be used to reach a consensus. (1/2)
I particularly liked how the example of moving houses would trigger a multi-directional #influence from family members which was a perfect illustration of the concept. I am moving houses soon, it felt personal as the process was indeed lengthy until reaching a concensus! 😊 (2/2)
#OUB329 WK9 really focused on how #leadership should foster #collaboration at the workplace. Finding out how much of a #collaborativeleadership activities I already use was helpful to point out areas of weaknesses that I need to address.
#OUB329 WK8 taught me that diversity alone isn’t enough to break boundaries when being a #leader. To accomplish that, #inclusivity should applied; therefore, listening and understanding individual’s weaknesses and strengths is needed to bridge the gap and create synergetic teams.
#OUB329 WK7 has been my favourite so far! I enjoyed learning about personality dimensions and how we can change them. This is very important as I picked up on a few things I need to work on in order to become an #inspiringLeader
I would also like to highlight how interesting it was to learn that when managing difficult people as a #leader we should first be aware of how we are perceived by others. #Changes should come from within, it is not an outward thing #OUB329 WK7
