There is actually a lot of history that has solely been based around the ancient texts of the Bible. For example, most of the history of early Israel is comprised and confirmed by texts in the Taura. Sure you can argue the supernatural elements are fictional, but you don't see anyone denying the history from Egyptian Hieroglyphs because they talk about how the Pharoah was a God.
