Up to 41 million visitor arrivals and $45.4 billion in spending are at risk if EES border delays regularly reach three hours 🌍 But new research from World Travel & Tourism Council is equally clear: travellers want EES to succeed. 65% support the system after learning about it. 87% are willing to accept some disruption if future travel becomes smoother. The demand for modern, digital borders is there - what matters now is getting implementation right. The solutions already exist: ➔ Accelerate adoption of digital pre-registration tools ➔ Launch coordinated traveller communications across key source markets ➔ Ensure full operational readiness at every border crossing point Europe's borders can be both secure and seamless. The coastal and marine tourism supported 100 million jobs and contributed $3.3 trillion to the global economy in 2023. This #WorldOceanDay, that's worth pausing on 🐋 🌎 The world's coastlines are not just beautiful - they are economic engines. In 2023, the coastal and marine tourism economy generated $3.3 trillion in total economic value - 3.2% of global GDP. Yet the destinations driving this value are among the most exposed to climate risk. Protecting coastlines means protecting livelihoods. And that requires coordinated action - from Travel & Tourism businesses, from governments, and from the wider private sector. The sector is already moving: mangrove protection, wetland restoration, sand dune recovery. But the scale of investment needed demands broader commitment. ➔ Find out what's at stake, what's being done, and what must come next in our research. 🔹Coastal & Marine Tourism - researchhub.wttc.org/product… 🔹Climate and Ocean - researchhub.wttc.org/product… #WTTC #MarineEnvironment @IBEROSTAR

Travel & Tourism's share of global GHG emissions fell from 8.3% to 7.3% between 2019 and 2024 - and emissions intensity dropped nearly 15% over the same period 🌍 World Environment Day is a moment to recognise that progress, and to push further. World Travel & Tourism Council's Nature Positive Tourism Partnership - with UN Tourism and the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance - sets out what meaningful action looks like: ➔ Regenerating destinations through nature positive tourism ➔ Monitoring and disclosing nature-related risks and impacts ➔ Empowering residents and communities as partners in destination stewardship The environment is the foundation of Travel & Tourism. World Travel & Tourism Council ( @WTTC) is closely monitoring the Ebola situation in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The overall risk to international travellers remains low, and Ebola remains contained to specific areas. WTTC commends the swift, transparent, and collaborative response from @AfricaCDC, national governments, @WHO, and international health partners. The Safe Travels protocols developed by WTTC during COVID-19 demonstrated that coordinated, evidence-based measures can help maintain safe travel during periods of heightened concern. WTTC encourages travellers to stay informed through trusted official sources and to approach the situation with facts, not fear. 🔗 wttc.org/news/wttc-calls-for…
