These peaceful PTM members have been missing for weeks. Others have been unlawfully detained for hundreds of days without a legal charge, trial, or due process. Their only “crime” is speaking the truth and demanding justice for the Pashtun people. They did not take up arms. They did not incite violence. They exercised a fundamental human right: to question injustice, to oppose oppression, and to demand accountability. For this, they were abducted, silenced, and erased from public view. This is enforced disappearances, political persecution, and state terror. Pakistani establishment can’t continue to present itself as a victim of extremism while systematically criminalizing peaceful dissent and disappearing its own citizens. Detention without charge, denial of legal access, and collective punishment violate Pakistan’s constitution and every international human-rights obligation it claims to uphold. The world must ask: How long will peaceful voices be punished for telling uncomfortable truths? How many more Pashtuns must disappear before accountability begins? Silence in the face of this injustice is complicity. These detainees must be immediately released. Truth must not be treated as treason.
