Delighted that Erika Jang and Winnie Ho's latest work is out. LDL transcytosis across the endothelium is the first step in atherogenesis, typically involving caveolin-1 and SR-BI or ALK1. We describe a distinct route that uses LDLR and Rab27a in response to pM levels of IL-1b.
ApoAI/HDL binds and competes with LDL for SR-BI on endothelial cells, thereby partly reducing LDL transcytosis. Yet another way “good” cholesterol is beneficial. The last work from Karen Fung’s thesis and collaboration with my former neighbor @WarrenLeeLab

Excited to share our work describing targeted transfection of injured lung. A huge effort by @RajivSanwal and collaborators. Over-expression of claudin-5 using ultrasound & microbubbles decreased vascular leakage w/o impairing innate immunity.

Duffy antigen receptor for chemokines (DARC) or ACKR1 is expressed on endothelial cells in tissue but the protein is lost when cells are cultured. Here we report how to induce endothelial ACKR1 and how it is regulated. Congrats to Xinying Guo and @KhNegar for figuring this out!
