Nobody in their right mind would see a black astronaut and think DEI. I would think he made it this far to be able to leave planet earth then he dam sure earned it.
It is the existence of things like affirmative action and DEI which lead us to question such things in the first place.
If they didn't exist, we'd be much more likely to assume he is part of an elite program because he is, in fact, elite. Meritocracy erases the questions.
