This is terrifying 😳🌀
Fast-moving water squeezed through a narrow channel created this massive swirling whirlpool at Devil’s Hole in British Columbia. The powerful currents below the surface make it as dangerous as it is mesmerizing.

Orographic blocking at the coast this afternoon. The northwest wind flowing parallel to the shoreline hits a barrier at the coast. The strong inversion prevents the flow from rising, so cloud streets begin to form as the air piles up at the blockage. #cawx #california

Incoming! Strong winds in the Owens Valley (east of the Sierra) have kicked up a big dust storm out there, moving to the South. Gusts in Bishop topped 70 mph today. I'll post the associated satellite loop in the comments. #CaWx #DustStorm #OwensValley #Windy

An earthquake swarm is going on around Brawley Sat. night. Since 4 pm, we've had 9 earthquakes over 3.0 magnitude, and 3 over 4.0... all in just 5 hours, & still going. This is where the San Andreas Fault connects to the Imperial Fault, & is an active seismic area. #earthquake

❄ California's snowpack is at 10–20%, a new record low. That number matters more than most people realize. Think of snowpack as a slow-release water source. As temperatures rise, melting snow keeps plants and grasses hydrated longer, holding off the dry conditions that wildfires thrive on. When the snowpack is low, that moisture disappears faster. Vegetation dries out weeks earlier than normal, and the drier the grass and brush, the easier it ignites, and the faster fire moves through it. This year, an unusually dry and warm end to winter accelerated that process, leaving the vegetation with moisture levels far below what is typical for this time of year. Fire activity in California does not follow a predictable schedule, and conditions this year are a reminder that preparation cannot wait. 🔥 📷 @ALERTCalifornia #DefensibleSpace #WildfirePreparedness #ReadyForWildfire #Snowpack #KnowYourRisk

It's doubtful that we'll be able to hear or see the @NASAArtemis re-entry from Fresno.
🌑Artemis II is nearing its return to Earth🌎 A sonic boom is expected as the spacecraft re-enters the atmosphere and could potentially be felt and heard throughout Southern California between 5:00 and 5:15 pm local time tomorrow, April 10. If you hear or feel sonic booms (or not), please fill out this "Did You Feel It" survey. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthqua… 📷: NASA’s Orion spacecraft captures the Moon and the Earth in one frame during the Artemis II crew’s deep space journey at 6:42 p.m. ET on the sixth day of the mission.

Rocket launch from @SLDelta30 Monday evening was VERY visible from Fresno! Why was this one so visible, but others are not? 2 reasons. 1. It has to be a bigger rocket. Tonight’s was a @SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Not huge like the @NASAArtemis , but big enough. #rocket 1/2

2. Main reason is TIME. For Fresno to be able to see a launch from that far away, it has to launch close to sunset, so our skies are getting dark, but the setting sun to the west (where Vandenberg SFB is… to our south west) can still light up the exhaust trail. 2/2 @KMPHFOX26

It was a beautiful day in @YosemiteNPS and the waterfalls are roaring! This is Bridal Veil Falls. Temperatures will continue to heat up through the weekend, making #Yosemite or any place in the Sierra a great road trip. #cawx #SierraNevada #waterfalls
