The 5 to 30 feet around your home can help slow the spread of wildfire. Zone 1 is where strategic landscaping matters. Remove dead vegetation, maintain plant spacing, and reduce fuels that could carry fire toward your home. #DefensibleSpace #FireSafeSLO

🏘️ A safer community doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people decide to build one. That's exactly what this community did. Through a CAL FIRE-funded fuel break project, landowners in Spanish Flat in north El Dorado County worked to clear, mulch, and create defensible space on a large scale. When wildfire came, firefighters had a safe corridor to work from, and homes were successfully defended. This is what preparation looks like. This is what working with your community makes possible. #WildfirePrevention #FuelBreak #DefensibleSpace #ElDoradoCounty #ReadyForWildfire @CALFIREAEU @cafiresafe

🔥 This is how many homes burn in a wildfire. Not from the main wall of flames. From embers. Burning pieces of wood and vegetation can travel miles ahead of a wildfire, landing in dry grass, leaves, mulch, decks, fences, and roofs- igniting homes far from the fire itself. That’s why defensible space matters. Clearing debris and reducing fuel around your home helps take away the places embers can ignite. A few hours of work around your property can make a real difference. 🔥🏡 Details on protecting your home: bit.ly/westmetroreadysetgo #WildfireAwarenessMonth #DefensibleSpace #WestMetroFireRescue

🚨🚨High Fire Season has officially been declared in Santa Barbara County beginning May 25, 2026. With warmer weather and dry conditions increasing wildfire risk, all residents, workers, and visitors are urged to stay alert and practice fire safety at all times. 🔥 🚗 Never park on dry grass, avoid mowing or using power equipment during hot or windy weather, secure trailer chains, and remember that ALL fireworks are a fire danger. Most wildfires are human-caused and preventable. 🏡 Create defensible space around your home by clearing dry vegetation, trimming trees, and keeping emergency vehicle access routes clear. Small home-hardening upgrades like ember-resistant vents and fire-rated roofing can also help protect your property. 📲 Be prepared before an emergency happens. Know your evacuation zone, sign up for emergency alerts, and leave early if conditions become unsafe. #SantaBarbaraCounty #FireSafety #WildfirePreparedness #ReadySetGo #DefensibleSpace

🌲 Don’t give fire a ladder. Untrimmed tree limbs are one of the most overlooked hazards on your property. They can create a direct path for fire to climb from the ground straight into the canopy. Here’s what to do now: ✅ Limb trees up to create space between the ground and canopy ✅ Clear debris and vegetation beneath your trees ✅ Keep branches away from your roof and chimney Get the checklist at 👉 ReadyForWildfire.org #DefensibleSpace #Landscaping #ReadyForWildfire #CALFIRE

1,500 and counting. 🏠🔥 California just hit a major milestone in community wildfire preparedness—and the 1,500th Firewise USA® site is Woodfords Firewise in Alpine County. Tucked along the Highway 88/89 corridor, Woodfords is a small mountain community of about 150 residents living in a high-fire hazard area. They’re not waiting for fire—they’re preparing for it. Through the National Fire Protection Association Firewise USA® program, neighbors are taking action together: clearing hazardous vegetation, strengthening defensible space, and building a plan before it’s needed. 💪🏽🌲 It’s part of a broader push across Alpine County, where local partners are working to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risk at the community level. Bottom line: preparedness works better when neighbors work together. #CALFIRE #Firewise #WildfirePreparedness #DefensibleSpace #ReadyForWildfire @CALFIREOSFM

Nevada's fire season is not waiting for summer. With Sierra Nevada snowpack at just 68% of historical averages and vegetation already drying out, fire weather conditions are arriving early in 2026. Now is the right time to work on defensible space. A few things worth doing this weekend: 🌿 Clear dead grass, brush, and debris within 30 feet of your home 🪵 Remove flammable items within 5 feet of your structure - patio furniture, wood piles, bark mulch 🍂 Clean leaves and needles out of your gutters and off your roof 🚗 Review your evacuation routes and make sure your household knows the plan A little work now can make a real difference when fire weather arrives. Defensible space is one of the most effective things you can do to protect your home from wildfire -- and with Nevada's fire season arriving earlier than usual in 2026, now is the time to work on it. The goal is to create a buffer between your home and the vegetation around it. Clear dead grass, brush, and debris within 30 feet of your structure, and remove anything flammable within 5 feet -- wood piles, bark mulch, patio furniture. Even small changes in that inner zone make a significant difference. Learn more at livingwithfire.com #WildfirePreparedness #DefensibleSpace #NevadaFire #LivingWithFire #NevadaReady

🌲 Another warm day on the mountain, and while humidity has come up to 29%, conditions are still dry enough to support fast-moving fire behavior if something sparks. Please stay vigilant out there today. With warm temperatures, dry grasses, and afternoon winds, it doesn’t take much for a small accident to become a wildfire. 🔥 A few reminders: • Avoid parking on dry grass • Secure trailer chains • Be cautious with equipment and outdoor tools • Keep water nearby while working outside • Stay aware of changing wind conditions • Report smoke immediately Thank you to everyone continuing weed abatement and defensible space work to help protect our mountain communities. 🌲 One less spark. One less wildfire. #LosPadres #FrazierMountain #FireWeather #WildfirePreparedness #MountainLiving #DefensibleSpace #CAwx #ReadySetGo #FireSmart #CLBLP

🌾 A reminder for everyone working on weed abatement right now: A lot of people are out clearing weeds and dry grass to meet the deadline, which is important work — but these hot, dry, windy conditions also increase the risk of accidental fire starts. Please use extra caution while working outdoors. 🔥 Equipment, blades, vehicles, and even a small spark can ignite dry vegetation quickly when humidity is this low. A few good reminders: • Work during the cooler morning hours when possible • Keep water and a shovel nearby • Check equipment for sparks or overheating • Avoid parking in dry grass • Clear debris away from engines and exhaust areas • Stay aware of wind conditions • Take breaks and don’t rush We all want safer properties and safer communities, and doing the work carefully matters just as much as getting it done. Stay safe out there, mountain friends 🌲🔥 #LosPadres #FrazierMountain #WeedAbatement #WildfirePreparedness #FireWeather #MountainLiving #DefensibleSpace #ReadySetGo #CAwx #CLBLP

🌲 Extreme Fire Danger on the Mountain 🌲 11% humidity is no joke in the mountains. When you combine prolonged heat, dry vegetation, and wind, even a small spark can turn into a fast-moving wildfire. Right now is the time to slow down, stay aware, and do everything we can to reduce the chance of accidental fire starts. 🔥 A few important reminders: • Avoid parking or driving over dry grass • Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and spark • Be cautious with grills, smokers, campfires, and equipment • Don’t toss cigarettes outside • Keep vehicles maintained and check for hot exhaust systems • Avoid mowing or using spark-producing tools during the hottest, windiest parts of the day • Keep water, a shovel, or a fire extinguisher nearby when working outside • Report smoke immediately — early detection matters Living in the forest means sharing responsibility for protecting it. One moment of caution can prevent a disaster for homes, wildlife, firefighters, and entire communities. Please stay alert out there, especially during these dangerous conditions. 🌲🔥 #LosPadres #FrazierMountain #WildfirePreparedness #FireWeather #ReadySetGo #DefensibleSpace #CaliforniaFireSeason #MountainLiving #FireSmart #CLBLP #CAwx

Meet Clint Celio, the Wildfire County Coordinator for Alpine County. 👋 Since 2021, Wildfire County Coordinators, powered by a partnership between @cafiresafe and CAL FIRE, have been increasing community wildfire resilience by planning and advancing prevention, preparedness, mitigation, and recovery projects. For Clint, collaboration with CAL FIRE has been key to helping educate his community about wildfire preparedness. One standout example is the implementation of the Model D Defensible Space Program in Bear Valley. Clint helped bring CAL FIRE and Bear Valley Public Safety together, coordinating contacts, aligning schedules, and supporting the inspection process to make sure it worked for everyone involved. The result was a streamlined approach that made it easier for agencies to work together and support residents in creating safer, more fire-resilient properties 🔥 He also partnered with CAL FIRE on the review of Alpine County’s Safety Element. With their detailed feedback, the county strengthened its plan and successfully moved it forward for state review—helping ensure wildfire risk is better addressed at the community level. @CALFIREAEU @CAFireSafe #FireSafeCommunities #DefensibleSpace #Wildfires

🔥 Wildfire Readiness 🌲 DAY 22 Fire can start from vehicles. Not from a crash. Not from sparks flying everywhere. Sometimes just heat is enough. Hot exhaust systems and catalytic converters can ignite dry grass underneath a parked vehicle in just minutes. 👉 Especially during hot, dry, windy conditions. Today’s Tip: Heat is enough. Be mindful of where you stop— even for a short time. Today’s Action: • Avoid parking in dry grass Choose dirt, gravel, or cleared areas whenever possible. One parked vehicle in the wrong spot can start something much bigger. 🔥 Watch where you park. Protect the mountain. #42DaysFireReady #FireSmart #WildfirePreparedness #MountainLiving #DefensibleSpace #FrazierMountain #LosPadresNF #CALandBird #MustLoveDirt
