MMIW Awareness:
The missing and murdered Indigenous women (MMIW) epidemic affects Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States. It has been described as a Canadian national crisis and a Canadian genocide. Indigenous women or girls are at least 3 times more likely to experience violence, and at least 6 times more likely to be murdered than any other woman or girl in Canada. A National action plan, including domestic violence resources, a national public inquiry, including ensuring government and police accountability and regular comprehensive collection of data is needed for change.
