Just to be clear: @NateBoyer37 suggested Kap kneel because before he was sitting. It was a compromise. Nate would have preferred Kap stand during the anthem and hopes one day he will.
Why did Colin Kaepernick decide to #TakeAKnee? Because US Army veteran and NFL player Nate Boyer reached out to Kap and suggested doing it as a form of respectful protest.
