When you go home, tell them of us and say For your tomorrow, we gave our today. John Maxwell Edmonds. These tiny memorials from the mud are some of the Army and Navy buttons (18th-19th century) I’ve found on the Thames foreshore.

#WW1 & #WW2 war memorials in the church at #Sudbourne, in Suffolk - my grandmother’s village #LestWeForget 🥀

Last week I went to Suffolk to take photos for my #FamilyHistory & #OnePlaceStudy. We stayed in #Orford. The war memorial was lit up at night, casting a beautiful shadow onto the church porch. Inside the porch there were #WW1 & #WW2 rolls of honour. #LestWeForget 🥀

Inside the church there was another #WW1 roll of honour, with many more names on it. I wonder why? Perhaps those on the RoH in the porch were nonconformist, though some names appear on the RoH inside too. #LestWeForget 🥀

This is High House in #Orford, Suffolk. It’s the former home of Dr Thomas Lloyd Place, a local GP who covered the Orford & #Sudbourne area from c1870-c1901. He’d have done all his visits on horseback & was called to help with a variety of ailments & accidents #OnePlaceWednesday
