These tiny memorials from the mud are some of the Army and Navy buttons (18th-19th century) I’ve found on the Thames foreshore.
Last week I went to Suffolk to take photos for my #FamilyHistory & #OnePlaceStudy. We stayed in #Orford. The war memorial was lit up at night, casting a beautiful shadow onto the church porch. Inside the porch there were #WW1 & #WW2 rolls of honour.

Inside the church there was another #WW1 roll of honour, with many more names on it. I wonder why? Perhaps those on the RoH in the porch were nonconformist, though some names appear on the RoH inside too.

Great to see so many people from the #genealogy & #FamilyHistory community heading to BlueSky today! I’m @willsmanonename.bsky.social if anyone is heading over there…and our weekly chat is at 8pm (UK time) tonight. There’s no better time to join!
I will be spending a little of today in my #OnePlaceStudy! I’ll be photographing a few buildings, some graves which tell a tragic story, and some OS marks on the church #OnePlaceWednesday
This is High House in #Orford, Suffolk. It’s the former home of Dr Thomas Lloyd Place, a local GP who covered the Orford & #Sudbourne area from c1870-c1901. He’d have done all his visits on horseback & was called to help with a variety of ailments & accidents #OnePlaceWednesday
