Meet King Zog I of Albania—the Unkillable KING
#Albania#KingZog#History
8/9 Ironically, the event that finally removed him from power wasn’t an assassin.
It was Benito Mussolini’s Italy.
In 1939, Italian forces invaded Albania.
Zog fled into exile with his family and much of the royal treasury.
After surviving decades of assassination plots, foreign invasion ended his reign.
9/9 King Zog died in exile in 1961.
But his legend survived.
Few rulers have accumulated so many enemies.
Even fewer survived long enough to tell the tale.
Whether the real number was 50 or not, King Zog remains one of history’s most remarkably hard to kill monarchs.
History is full of rulers who were assassinated.
King Zog’s claim to fame may be that he kept surviving.
What’s the most unbelievable survival story from history you’ve ever heard?
