While sharing about his work in schools and communities, Simon Ssenabulya of @ssenahealingafr called on partners to actively support and amplify each other’s work in the fight against childhood sexual violence. He reminded us that one organization may have resources but not know where the need exists, while another may have access to communities but lack the means to respond. This is why collaboration matters, we all need each other. Drawing from his book, “Echoes of Stolen Childhood”, Simon highlighted the lasting impact of violence on children and the urgent need for collective action to protect future generations. He left participants with a powerful challenge: “If you are comfortable in your generation, think about the one after you.” #BeBrave #PathToJustice #EndChildSexualViolence
“When you engage a boy, you have helped a girl.” With these powerful words, our speaker @MucunguziJackso set the tone for a meaningful conversation on ending childhood sexual violence while appreciating the men who showed up for a cause bigger than all of us. He unpacked the different forms of sexual violence and reminded participants that real men protect women and children. He emphasized that silence protects offenders, not survivors and challenged everyone to become role models who stand for justice and child protection. He encouraged participants to build a personal brand rooted in positive values, walk the talk and use their social media platforms as tools for advocacy. Change begins when ordinary people choose to speak up and as he noted, noise is a powerful tool for change. He further called on participants to become ambassadors of Sauti 116, spreading awareness and ensuring that children and communities know where to seek help and report abuse. Together, through collective action, we can #EndChildhoodSexualViolence. #BeBrave #PathToJustice

Our panel brought the work to life. Three CSOs one message, safeguarding children is possible. They shared how their programs protect children’s rights, shift harmful mindsets, and use advocacy that reaches families where they are. Real work, results and hope for children.
Our CEO, @bwambaledickso reminded us that advocacy doesn’t stop when funding gets tight. “Social media links us to thousands. Let’s use low-budget advocacy and stay present in our communities. Service must continue.” He welcomed every delegate and set the tone. #BeBrave

While sharing about the work being done by @CommunityMindsI to address childhood sexual violence, @EKabanda emphasized the importance of working directly with schools and communities because that is where children are and where prevention efforts can have the greatest impact. He noted that with over 12,780 reported cases of child sexual violence, the situation remains alarming and demands action from all of us. Childhood sexual violence is not a women’s issue alone, it is a societal issue that requires collective responsibility and action. He challenged participants to intentionally engage men and boys in their communities, involve them in child protection efforts and assign them meaningful responsibilities. When men and boys become active participants in safeguarding children, they become part of the solution. Together, we can build safer communities and end childhood sexual violence. #BeBrave #PathToJustice #EndChildSexualViolence

📍 June 10th, 2026 | Lishi Resort & Hotel Today, we proudly joined partners and stakeholders for a powerful high-level dialogue on “Engaging Men and Boys as Champions to End Childhood Sexual Abuse.” Hosted by @TranscendAfric in partnership with @BebraveUganda, the engagement brought together child protection actors, humanitarian organizations, and youth leaders united by one shared goal: ending childhood sexual violence. Real change happens when men and boys take a stand, when they speak out, challenge harmful norms, and choose to protect. Today, we are raising champions, not silence. Choosing justice, not shame. The future of our children depends on the courage we show now. The keynote address by @MucunguziJackso, Senior Child and Family Protection Officer, underscored the urgency of collective action and called on men and boys to become role models in safeguarding children. Partners shared experiences, strengthened commitments to support survivors, and pledged to champion advocacy within their communities. The message was clear: ending childhood sexual abuse requires united and sustained action. #AWYADAT10
