Just got my author copies of "From Ruby to Elixir"! Now that Twitter hides likes, you can like this tweet and no one will know you secretly like Elixir. #myelixirstatus

Elixir v1.20 released! Now officially a gradually typed language: Elixir type checks every single line of code, finding bugs and dead code, without developer overhead (no typing signatures) and extremely low false positives rate. Plus a faster compiler! Links and reports below.

Pick up From Ruby to Elixir for 40% off today! This book title is slightly deceptive, because you don't really need to know Ruby to benefit from it. It could be called "Learn Elixir the way it clicked for me" I haven't looked back since #myelixirstatus
Pattern matching will change the way that you write code. It’s a simple—yet extremely powerful—feature that’s built into the foundation of Elixir. And once you master it, you won’t want to go back. @YOOOODAAAA link in 🧵

It's embarrassing how bad @OpenAI support is. I can't tell if it's chat-bot based or human? (It's bad though.) If this is the future of chat support, please count me out. I also truly can't figure out if they have a billing support team or not. This whole thing is weird.

I have officially hit a "do not use Fly" level right now. I cannot recommend it in good faith after issues over the past week and no critical downtime support.

I usually do a custom shoes order each year for team conference shoes. By far, @Vans has the worst custom support experience I've seen. Avoid.

We're at a week with no response. Nike customs are already being shipped. Wild.

Update on #myelixirstatus Still 3 app servers 2 Chrome PDF servers (can probably do 1): all shared-cpu-8x:2048MB 2000 -> 7000 users, current RAM usage is average 320MB Decreased RAM and increased CPU allocation as Fly changed how they enforce CPU slicing.
Appreciating Elixir #myelixirstatus: ~1.5M ARR business with > 2000 users 3 servers running @flydotio shared-cpu-2x:4096MB < 200MB RAM average 42ms response time average AND, we're super overprovisioned on servers. I had a memory leak and just fixed it. Will drop to 2GB servers

5k RPM isn't crazy, but still super cheap to serve this traffic purely from an app level. (My database data transfer cost is a bit higher due using AWS RDS.)

Pretty crappy that @telegram gates preventing new messages from unknown people behind a paywall (way way more $ than the value received), then has an awful spam problem that never gets better.

Charging for access to a SOC2 report is a strong negative indicator to me. I don't think there's any blurry lines or edge cases—it's based 100% of the time. This is especially true if your main customer base is startups.

Is there a good tool that allows embedding slack channels seamlessly? My understanding is you need to build from scratch basically

Finally upgraded to @sorentwo's Oban Pro. We've been using web for a while (which is now free) and finally grew needs enough for the pro features. I love the free library, and having pro there for advanced needs is quite nice. #myelixirstatus

Never before seen Postgres issue: fetching more than 1 row freezes no matter what. Even `SELECT 1 FROM table;` with only a few thousand entries. Selected 2 records manually via id: worked when separate but freezes when put together into single query

The query doesn't respond, and trying to cancel it just hangs on "cancel request sent" Production is returning data just fine.

I connected via a different internet connection and it worked. Switched back and failed again. Bear in mind I'm connected over a private tunnel for all connection. I've never seen something like that, so weird.

Is there a decent tool to view all stripe subscription changes over time? I have low hope here because I haven't even found a tool that calculates MRR properly.
