During the Second Continental Congress, on June 7th, 1776, Lee introduced what is known as the “Lee Resolution,” which called for a declaration of independence, for the colonies to form foreign alliances, as well as formulate "a plan for confederation."

#OTD in #History 1774, the Quartering Act was enacted. It allowed royal governors—not colonial legislatures—to house British troops in empty buildings at colonists’ expense. But this warning against rebellion backfired, and instead helped make #AmericanRevolution all but certain.
