3 generations of our family moving the cattle this morning. Traditional #NewForest #commoners farming in a way that is both good for nature & has produced fantastic food for 100s of yrs. Yet, Defra want to pension Grandad off & replace our children with new entrants. As for us?

My home bred stallion Mogshade Quarryman has been selected to run the #newforest. 🥳🐎
He along with 19 other stallions will be turned out on the 10th May for 8 weeks.
PLEASE give them plenty space as they will be even more unpredictable than usual!

Today, whilst out stock checking, a YC was antagonised and chased by an out of control dog. Sadly the owner made no attempt to keep their dog under control or put on a lead.Fortunately for this Commoner (and the dog!) their pony tolerated this ordeal....

If you choose to exercise your dogs within the New Forest we are asking that you please keep them under control. Aggravation like this is just not acceptable.
PLEASE abide by the #newforestcode at all times, so that it is a safe place for us to work our stock and you to enjoy.

A New Forest Pony found chocking after being fed carrots by the side of a road in the New Forest was caught taken to her owners holding & received veterinary care 🐴 however she could not be saved & was put to sleep 😢 please #keepyourdistance & follow the #NewForestCode🙏

New Forest ponies are a hardy breed, adept at moving around the Forest to find the best places to graze, shaping the landscape as they go. People shouldn’t feed them, even discarded fruit or vegetables can make them ill & could even kill ponies. #NewForest #grazing
