America is back in the business of sending astronauts to the Moon and bringing them home safely.
Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy did an outstanding job. These talented astronauts inspired the world and represented their space agencies and nations as humanity’s ambassadors to the stars.
This was a test mission, the first crewed flight of SLS and Orion, pushing farther into the unforgiving environment of space than ever before, and it carried real risk. They accepted that risk for all we stood to learn and for the exciting missions that follow, as we return to the lunar surface, build a Moon base, and prepare for what comes next.
And they were not alone. The entire NASA workforce, our commercial and international partners, and the hopes and dreams of people all over the world were with them. The astronauts know it, and you should too. This mission would not have been possible without you.
Congratulations. Artemis II, mission accomplished.

In the next 24 hours, the Artemis II crew will be on the far side of the Moon, farther into space than any humans in history.
Even as they reach this historic milestone, we will continue learning a great deal about the Orion spacecraft, setting us up for Artemis III next year and America’s grand return to the lunar surface on Artemis IV in 2028.

Artemis II brought a lot today beyond the science and mission objectives.
🌕The crew heard from Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke.
⭐️Jeremy got his astronaut wings while flying toward the moon.
🐇The crew sent an Easter message.
“We were talking up here as a crew, and we wanted to send a special Easter message on this day. And no matter your faith or religion, for me the teachings of Jesus were always a very simple truth of love – universal love. Love yourself and love others,” said Jeremy Hansen.
“And something for us, being up here and looking back at all of you through one tiny window – that just resonates 100 percent true,” said Hansen. “And our goal as humanity should be to just follow in that example.”
I believe that is a glimpse into his Overview Effect. 🌍💙
