REPRESSION ULUS Gallery Belgrade June 3 - June 20 2026 Repression 2025, brutality and repression. May 2025, once again I did not celebrate my birthday — I had somehow decided that after my 49th, I would stop. I am deeply angry, furious, unsettled, powerless, emptied out. I have not been painting for a long time. I work on digital pieces. I want to paint but I cannot. I meet Mia. And then everything changes. I feel love. From the twilight zone I cross into a new world, carrying all the burdens that I have. Because of Mia, I started painting again. With no thought of an exhibition. Three paintings of love. Love in the Age of Repression. The first segment of this exhibition. I am going on vacation for the first time in six years. It is wonderful. With Mia. I return with a sense of guilt for having allowed myself to feel good in these dark times. I feel an irresistible need to keep painting. I paint. Sardining. People on the beach. Indifference in the Age of Repression. The second segment of the exhibition. Brutality and repression continue. I now know that I will complete this journey with at least one more segment. Repression in the Age of Repression. The third segment and the idea of an exhibition is there. An exhibition through which I will speak to myself. 2026. The madness we live in goes on.
