GDP is no longer a reliable compass. GDP figures may continue to be released like clockwork every quarter, but they increasingly provide an incomplete picture of economic activity, argues Swiss economist Thomas Straubhaar dw.com/en/opinion-gdp-is-no-…

Now that Zuma has gone, Ramaphosa has his work cut out to shift SA's values pendulum from Zuma's highly extrinsic values focus (social power, wealth, authority, public image) to more intrinsic values (social justice, wisdom, honesty, the environment, equality.) #ValuesSA

Today participated in one of a series of workshops contributing to the development of a Resilience Strategy for the City of Cape Town — all part of the @100ResCities initiative. This initiative offers lots of potential to apply the Common Cause values and frames thinking.
Good positive framing of the water crisis. Ignore the blame-gaming and dooming-and-glooming. Instead up the positive framing, which in turn strengthens intrinsic values and thus societal collaboration to take constructive action. timeslive.co.za/news/south-a…

Your choice of mental framing is important to avoid cognitive dissonance and strengthen intrinsic / compassionate values. x.com/CommonCauseSA/status/8…

Presenting THE facts can be counter-productive if it evokes emotions & avoidance responses. Cognitive dissonance! Frame messages with care.
