Today was super busy but finally off work and working on Retro Game Engine. As an aside, I love that it works on the ultra wide, a great way to soak it in.

A cat train in Japan. It was opened in honor of the cat Tama, who worked as a station attendant in the city of Kinokawa. The entire train is dedicated to cats, and it even has a library.

After SNK went bankrupt in 2001, many of its developers moved to Sega Sammy-related companies. One of the games created by that talent on the Atomiswave platform was Dolphin Blue. One of the biggest differences from Metal Slug is its combination of 2D characters and 3D backgrounds, which blend together surprisingly well without feeling out of place. As for the soundtrack, this might just be my impression, but it feels like it borrowed a lot of the spirit of Metal Slug. Unlike Metal Slug, Dolphin Blue has a much brighter and more cheerful atmosphere, and the music fits the game perfectly. The gameplay is fast-paced and fun, but after a short while the difficulty spikes dramatically, and there are quite a few sections where the game slows down, which can hurt the overall experience. Unfortunately, it wasn’t commonly seen in arcades and was never ported to home consoles, so most people have probably never heard of it. It’s a solid game with a lot of charm, which makes it all the more disappointing that it never got the recognition it deserved.

My son has been asked to wear a Vote Labour t-shirt for 2 weeks as part of a social experiment to see how people react. So far he has been spat on, punched and had a bottle thrown at him. I'm curious to see what's going to happen when he leaves the house.

Starmer does not want to shut down X to protect your children. He wants to shut it down to protect himself and @elonmusk is the only reason he cannot. Child safety. AI images. Misinformation. All lies. They cannot control X. That is the only reason it needs to be shut down. Here is the unit they use to control everything else. The UK government has a secret unit called RICU. It sits inside the Home Office. It employs psychologists, marketing experts and former intelligence officers. Its job is to control what you think after a terror attack or migrant attack happens. After Manchester. After Southport. After every major attack on British soil. RICU decides the narrative. What gets amplified. What gets buried. What communities are told to say publicly. After Manchester they pushed "Don't Look Back In Anger" across every platform and every news outlet. Grieving parents were pointed toward that message. The anger was managed. The questions were buried. RICU classifies believing that Western culture is under threat from mass immigration as a right wing extremist narrative to be shut down. A government unit. Paid for by you. Deciding which of your thoughts are acceptable. For years it worked. They controlled the newspapers. They controlled the BBC. They controlled the aftermath of every attack before you even knew what had happened and after Southport the Home Office admitted it in Parliament. They worked directly with social media platforms to remove content they decided you should not see. Not illegal content. Content that did not fit the narrative. Gone. Then came X. The video of Stephen Ogilvie's attack in Belfast was on X before RICU could get anywhere near it. The truth about Southport spread on X before the managed narrative was ready. The Burnley stabbing. The Scotland assault. The one week list. All of it on X. Unmanaged. Uncontrolled. Real. That is why he wants to shut it down. Not your children. You. That is why free speech in Britain depends on X.

Midnight Resistance (1989) still stands as one of the most epic run-and-gun arcade titles Data East ever produced. While many gamers vote for Contra as the undisputed king of the genre, I often found myself reaching for Midnight Resistance instead. What truly set it apart was its groundbreaking (at the time) rotary joystick. For the first time, you could run, jump, and scale ladders while aiming and firing in any of eight directions completely independently. I don't think any other game had sucha feature before - correct me if I am wrong. The weapon system was equally clever. Rather than relying on random pickups mid-stage, you visited a "shop" between levels to strategically select and purchase your arsenal. That might feel like a small detail but it added real tactical depth to what could have been a pure mindless shooting game. Sure, the controls felt odd at first, and it took real patience to master. But once everything clicked, the game felt incredibly satisfying, almost elegant kind of mayhem, if that makes sense. Absolute arcade gold if you ask me.

I’m going to ruin slot machines for you. And then, right at the end, I’m going to partially un-ruin them by showing you the one rare situation where a slot machine can actually become a better-than-even-money bet. Not luck. Not “because it's due.” Because math. Want to know how they really work inside? Watch this:

Come on!! The PS Vita is the retro game's wet snooze! I was lucky enough to buy mine from eBay and it was never used! It was immaculate. OLED screen that, and has, gone VitaBright! I have Henkaku'd it because the plugons make a massive vantage to it. I'm blubbering! Had to do a little work etc. But the retro emulator world has literally transformed this amazing Sony ghost, into a real usable gaming machine. Fs! I've even started playing with VitaSDK to port my C game to it. I love this system. @ObsoleteSony knows what I'm talking about!
