The Florida DOGE (FL DOGE) program is one of the most underrated programs and consequential programs in history.
Here's how it works: CFO
@GovGoneWild identifies high level waste via the FAFO audits.
FL DOGE finds the individual waste and helps to remove, fix, or claw it back in partnership with the State/CFO.
These are real dollars for the Counties or State.
It's essentially free money for the government that is lost or stalled; no new regulation or legislation necessary. That is POWERFUL in government.
FL DOGE was created under
@GovRonDeSantis executive order (EO 24-44).
The stated goals: (1) utilizing advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence, as part of ongoing efforts to identify and eliminate unnecessary spending, programs, or contracts (2) identifying any pending or funded federal grant awards that are inconsistent with the policies of this State and should be returned to the American taxpayer in furtherance of the President's DOGE efforts (3) recommending administrative or legislative reforms to promote efficiency, maximize productivity, and eliminate waste in state and local government, including recommendations to leverage modern technology and to eliminate the duplication of services, reduce fees, and cut overhead.
I've been given permission to announce that there will be major findings released soon by
@DOGEFla.
Here are some results that are forthcoming:
- A county identified duplicate software spend/licenses; it was fixed and $1M was returned to the general fund IN A WEEK.
- A county identified roughly $32M in inefficient spending in categories like Procurement and Contract administration; easily fixed saving $32M annually.
- On a public contract a general contractor billed a county for nearly 700 days of elevated of Pre-Construction fees, despite the contract only allowing for 250 days. This cost taxpayers about $500,000 extra.
- A county amusement project that contracted with an entity for roughly 40% higher than average market price for the project (6M vs 4.2M estimated) AND this was the largest contract that entity had ever received. Potential waste and bid rigging.
Scaling this across Florida you can truly see hundreds of millions (maybe more) in ANNUAL efficiency opportunities; free taxpayer money that can be found and fixed using technology.
There are implications here for the most important issues such as Property Tax reform, affordability, housing, insurance, and more.
FL DOGE and FAFO will help keep Florida great for years to come.
