I'm thrilled that David Van Dijcke (@packlesshepherd) and Francesco Ruggieri (@_FRuggieri) will be joining @UVAEcon this fall. You may know their work! David's JMP extends RDD to distributional outcomes. Francesco's quantifies the effects of taxes for *all* local US governments.

What happens when overlapping jurisdictions tax the same homes? @_FRuggieri's JMP uses new data on all U.S. local governments to estimate fiscal spillovers and proposes symmetric transfers to internalize them. Read more: economics.uchicago.edu/direc… #UChicago #EconJobMarket

I am on the job market! Under policies of "stepped-up basis", many countries exempt inherited assets from previously-accumulated capital gains tax liability. My paper w/ @OleAndreasNaess examines how this type of policy distorts sales, inheritances, and overall tax collections.

Federico's JMP shows that fiscal reforms have a large impact on capital flows across financial institutions, which in turn affect investment fees, and asset prices. However, benefits are unevenly shared, as wealthier households are substantially more responsive to tax incentives.

Great and policy-relevant work by @and_mattia, who answers a quintessential Chicago Economics question: how much is time worth?
🚨#JMP @and_mattia Who benefits from congestion policy? I estimate the full value of time distribution of drivers in a large US city Express Lanes are welfare-reducing: high-VOT drivers benefits don’t compensate others of extra traffic #econjobmarket 👉bit.ly/3V45OIJ
