"Sob story." "Gatekeeping." Read the piece.
They lifted a year of my reporting whole, the sources, the discoveries, the structure, my prose read back as their script, then monetised it and badged it as their own research. And what moved you to type was that the guy who did the reporting should stop whining. Waah.
The word you're working this hard to avoid is plagiarism.
When I started out in newspapers back in the day I learnt within the first month - my today's story is tomorrow's bonda paper. Any story getting any recall greater than bonda paper is a win.
I read through this sob story. The YouTube channel made a narrative video out of this writer's story and has credited this writer apparently a few times in the video. YouTube channels only do the bare minimum to avoid copyright strikes.
Media and mediums have changed. Why not do a podcast about researching the story etc. I'm sure there is more to say and follow up about the story. You can't gatekeep stories anymore.
