With due respects sir 2 u & author POV, companies built 2 last must plan for 10 years out. Indian IT did not.Decent level of investments even if it was cash down the drain would definitely not have hurt,& if successful may have yielded huge gains @kris_sg thehindubusinessline.com/porโ€ฆ
Thanks for the right perspective.

Adobe Founders: "David Hockney came down and learned Photoshop [in 1989]. He was smoking almost the whole time and he had these two little dogs that he brought with himโ€ฆ it was our first attempt at putting the tools in the hands of really creative peopleโ€ฆ"
On David Hockney's Pursuit of the Digital Image (1985-2026) Of all of the 'famous' contemporary artist's of the era, Hockney (as well as Keith Haring) would engage the computer most persistently, sustaining acute interrogations of the digital medium across time. More Below.

On December 27, 1968, Apollo 8 needed to fire its engine to leave lunar orbit and return to Earth. If the burn was wrong, the crew would never come home. In Mission Control, a 25-year-old mathematician named Frances Northcutt, known as Poppy, had prepared the return-to-Earth calculations. She was the first woman to work in Mission Control in a technical role. When the burn data came back, something was off. The numbers didn't match the expected trajectory. She had 4 minutes to determine whether the deviation was within tolerance or whether Apollo 8 was in danger. She ran the calculations by hand. They were within tolerance. She gave the go. The crew came home. She later went to law school and became a prominent civil rights attorney. When asked about her time at NASA she said: "We were just doing our jobs. Nobody thought it was unusual except the reporters." The people who kept the astronauts alive were largely anonymous. Most of them were young women with slide rules.

Stephen Hawking was an avid rower in his college days. He joined the Oxford Rowing Team as a coxswain, the person who steers the boat and motivates the crew. He enjoyed the sport and the social life that came with it.

I got a lot of flack when I said this before, but I continue to think that model providers will end up being a lot like airlines: Critical for the global economy but highly commoditized, with huge capex requirements and low (and often negative) margins.
OpenAI is considering drastic price cuts as it seeks to win over customers from archrival Anthropic on.wsj.com/4aldd0k

"Sob story." "Gatekeeping." Read the piece. They lifted a year of my reporting whole, the sources, the discoveries, the structure, my prose read back as their script, then monetised it and badged it as their own research. And what moved you to type was that the guy who did the reporting should stop whining. Waah. The word you're working this hard to avoid is plagiarism.
When I started out in newspapers back in the day I learnt within the first month - my today's story is tomorrow's bonda paper. Any story getting any recall greater than bonda paper is a win. I read through this sob story. The YouTube channel made a narrative video out of this writer's story and has credited this writer apparently a few times in the video. YouTube channels only do the bare minimum to avoid copyright strikes. Media and mediums have changed. Why not do a podcast about researching the story etc. I'm sure there is more to say and follow up about the story. You can't gatekeep stories anymore.

Today we celebrate the birthday of J. E. Littlewood (9 June 1885 โ€“ 6 September 1977), a brilliant British mathematician. His close collaborator, G. H. Hardy, once had a fun way of comparing mathematicians. He rated them on a scale from 1 to 100. Hardy gave himself 25. He gave Littlewood 30. He rated David Hilbert at 80. And the highest score of allโ€”100โ€”went to Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Sir Isaac Newton on atheism โœ๏ธ Atheism is so senseless & odious to mankind that it never had many professors. Can it be by accident that all birds beasts & men have their right side & left side alike shaped (except in their bowels) & just two eyes & no more on either side the face & just two ears on either side the head & a nose with two holes & no more between the eyes & one mouth under the nose & either two fore leggs or two wings or two arms on the sholders & two leggs on the hipps one on either side & no more? Whence arises this uniformity in all their outward shapes but from the counsel & contrivance of an Author? Whence is it that the eyes of all sorts of living creatures are transparent to the very bottom & the only transparent members in the body, having on the outside an hard transparent skin, & within transparent juyces with a crystalline Lens in the middle & a pupil before the Lens all of them so truly shaped & fitted for vision, that no Artist can mend them? Did blind chance know that there was light & what was its refraction & fit the eys of all creatures after the most curious manner to make use of it? These & such like considerations always have & ever will prevail with man kind to believe that there is a being who made all things & has all things in his power & who is therfore to be feared.
