The Epstein Files and the Exposure of the topic with my kids
I've got two children who are in the sixth grade and middle school ages. The other day I asked them if they'd heard anything about the Jeffrey Epstein files.
The youngest one said the older one had a more extensive knowledge of them than she did. I looked at both of them and said, "Wow, that's not good. Okay, I don't think you guys should play around with those at all, just stay away from them, all right?"
They asked why, and I said, "Well, there's just some very inappropriate stuff in there. Unfortunately, it's the bad side of society and it's not pretty, so we'll just leave it there for now."
They got real serious with me, and I said, "You know what, it's okay. Let's just order dinner. We're at Taco Bell." Right about that time some parents came in with a kid mouthing off to them, and both my kids looked at me like, "Wow, that kid's out of control." I looked at the kid, saw what was going on, and said, "Yep, that little son of a bitch needs to go back to the island, doesn't he?"
I looked up at the menu, not missing a beat, watching my kids out of the corner of my eye. Both looked at each other and started laughing. "Oh my God, I can't believe you said that, Dad!" "What? It's true." They're laughing, and I know my kids are going to be okay. I'm just saying, things are fucked up. You can't always be fucking serious. Have a good day. Enjoy your time with your kids. Not every day you can make fun of somebody else's kids who were on Epstein Island and get your kids to laugh about it.
I'm not saying it's right, but it's fucking funny at the time, right?
