השבוע פגשתי את עומר אוחנה, אלמן שאיבד את אהבת חייו, שגיא גולן ז״ל, שנפל בקרב על בארי ב-8 באוקטובר.
מתוך הכאב הבלתי נתפס הזה, עומר בחר להילחם.
בזכות המאבק שלו, הכנסת תיקנה את החוק להכרה במשפחות שכולות והיום המדינה מכירה באלמני ואלמנות צה״ל ידועים בציבור. לצערנו, המדינה יודעת כיום להכיר באהבה של שגיא ושל עומר לאחר המוות, אבל עדיין לא יודעת להכיר באהבה הזאת בחיים.
כמו שעומר אמר בפגישה שלנו ״לא צריך להיות שווים רק במוות אלא גם בחיים״, לכן אנחנו, בדמוקרטים, מתחייבים לקדם ולחוקק את חבילת החוקים על שם שגיא גולן ז״ל שמכירים בזוגות, במשפחות ובבני אדם כפי שהם. חוקים שמעניקים שוויון זכויות והגנה.
המאבק של עומר הוא תזכורת לכך שתפקידה של המדינה הוא לא רק להגן על אזרחיה, אלא גם לראות אותם. את כולם.
שגיא לא כאן כדי לראות את המאבק של עומר, אבל אני בטוח שהוא צופה מלמעלה ומתמלא גאווה.
היום אנחנו צועדים במצעד הגאווה בת״א, למען עומר ושגיא, למען כל נער ונערה להט״בים ולמען ישראל שוויונית וחופשית יותר.
