J'ai assisté cet après-midi à la 2ième édition de l'appel de Paris pour la paix entre Israéliens et Palestiniens, conférence réunissant des représentants associatifs des sociétés civiles palestinienne et israélienne organisée par @ALLMEP @PrinciplesPeace @lesguerrieres et accueillie à l' Institut du Monde Arabe par le Ministre @jnbarrot . Une même volonté de dialogue, de paix et de projets concrets communs anime les participants à cette conférence. Malgré les immenses difficultés du moment et les souffrances endurées.

Peace comes from the hearts and actions of people. That is why the role of civil society is so important. Every day, organisations on the ground provide food, healthcare and education. They strengthen communities, build trust, keep dialogue and hope alive under the most difficult circumstances. It was a privilege to listen to their ideas and solutions and I was encouraged by the shared commitment to peace, reform and recovery. The EU stands firmly by their side.

Civil society organizations play a vital role in advancing dialogue and laying the groundwork for lasting peace. In Paris, together with @jnbarrot and @YvetteCooperMP, I spent time with Israeli and Palestinian civil society leaders who are working to bridge communities and promote humanitarianism. It was moving to hear from Israelis and Palestinians regarding their efforts in multiple organizations. One of these grassroots advocates was Yonatan Zeigen, whose Canadian mother, Vivian Silver, was killed by Hamas on October 7, 2023. I invited these civil society leaders to Canada for a discussion here on peace building at the grassroots level.

#Switzerland took part in France’s initiative bringing together Israeli and Palestinian civil society representatives in Paris ahead of the G7 Summit in Evian. It supported this important gathering. 🇨🇭welcomes this space for #dialogue and remains committed to supporting civil society organisations in #Israel and the #OPT. Civil society has a key role to play in advancing #dialogue, #HumanRights and prospects for a negotiated two-State solution.

Civil society is not an afterthought in diplomacy, it is indispensable for building peace. The EU now partners with 88 Israeli and Palestinian civil society organisations, fostering dialogue, strengthening women’s leadership and supporting independent media. Today at the Paris Call for the 2 state solution, I discussed with civil society organisations - they are our best partners on the ground. That is why we fund: - Palestinian CSOs with € 51 million and - ⁠Israeli CSOs with € 20 million. This way we support democratic renewal and peace, security & prosperity. Today’s Call will be heard by the G7 next week, because: “Conflict we pass on to our children is a conflict we lost” - @eran_nissan

A year of concrete political and humanitarian action since the Paris Call of 13 June 2025. As the situation in the Middle East deteriorates, the ceasefire in Gaza remains fragile. Settlement activity in the West Bank is speeding up. The outbreak of a broader regional conflict has diverted attention.

Today, on the eve of the first anniversary of the Paris Call of 13 June 2025, @jnbarrot is bringing together Israeli and Palestinian civil society and several of his counterparts.

#2Peoples2States1Future As the situation in the Middle East deteriorates, the ceasefire in Gaza remains fragile. A lasting political solution to the conflict must be found. France continues to work with its partners towards a path to peace based on the two-state solution.
