If your teenager is getting their exam results today, here are some ways you can support them:
1/ Validate how they’re feeling, whatever that may be. Listen to their concerns, offer plenty of reassurance, and remind them that while things might feel difficult right now, you’ll work together to figure out a plan
2/ Let them know that even if they didn’t get the results they were hoping for, it doesn’t mean they can’t achieve their goals. There are many routes to success - they might just need to take a different path than they expected
3/ Talk through the options available - whether that’s resitting exams, deferring, taking a year out to gain experience or work, or exploring different courses, universities, or training schemes
