Have questions about the brain-computer interface (BCI) landscape? If so, read on for our take on the fast-moving BCI ecosystem and what sets us apart. ➡️ Unlike pure-play BCI companies focused on developing technology to help a paralyzed person communicate with a computer mouse, keyboard, or voice generator, we are advancing BCI technology to control our investigational implantable ARC-IM® spinal cord stimulation therapy that is designed to restore thought-driven movement of the human body after paralysis. ➡️ The BCI we are using in clinical feasibility studies pairs ARC-IM Therapy with a BCI from @CEA_Leti-CLINATEC with 5 years of human safety data. ➡️ While Neuralink is at an early clinical stage with its first human BCI implant, peer-reviewed publications have described how our ARC-IM Therapy restored movement of the legs, including the ability to walk, in 10 people with spinal cord injury and 2 with Parkinson’s disease, including one person who also received a BCI to enable more natural, thought-driven movement. ➡️ A second person has been implanted with ARC-IM Therapy plus a BCI in a study researching thought-driven movement of the arms and hands, and at least 3 additional ARC-IM BCI implants are planned over the next year. ➡️ Our ARC-IM System is “BCI-ready” -- it has been designed to receive wireless signals from a BCI. That means we could eventually collaborate with Neuralink and other BCI companies. To learn more about the unique ways in which ONWARD is researching BCI technology to help people regain movement after paralysis and to put recent BCI news in context, please watch the video interview below with CEO Dave Marver. ⬇️ *All ONWARD Medical devices and therapies, including but not limited to ARC-IM®, ARC-EX®, and ARC Therapy™, alone or in combination with a brain-computer interface (BCI), are investigational and not available for commercial use. #EmpoweringMovement #SCI #BCI #ONWARDJourneys youtu.be/ASBmLAfFjHQ?si=ZvIS…

Congratulations to our research partners, Professor Grégoire Courtine and Dr. Jocelyne Bloch and their team at @_NeuroRestore, for making the @nytimes list of “20 Things That Happened for the First Time in 2023.” The newspaper celebrated a “series of surprising and serious events and trends that were unprecedented until now.” The article highlights their milestone achievement documented in Nature earlier this year involving the use of a brain-computer interface (BCI) paired with our ARC Therapy™ to enable a man to walk with augmented control over his paralyzed legs. We are continuing our work around ARC Therapy and BCI and look forward to learning more about the potential of this groundbreaking technology. 🚀 Article here: nytimes.com/2023/12/05/speci… *All ONWARD therapies are investigational and not available for commercial use. #EmpoweringMovement #SCI #NYTimes

🧠⚡️🚶"Currently, @elonmusk has only implanted a chip in the brain. We have already linked our neurostimulation platform with (a brain-computer interface) device to restore movement after paralysis. We welcome the opportunity to do the same with the @neuralink device." @gcourtine @USATODAY eu.usatoday.com/story/news/h…

Together, these four atlases include 482,825 single cells and 71,499 spatial barcodes from 18 different experimental conditions, all of which we overlaid onto a model of the injured spinal cord spanning four spatiotemporal dimensions

We are extremely excited about the ways in which these atlases open new perspectives on the biology of SCI, which culminated in the development of a new therapeutic approach that rejuvenates the spinal cords of aged mice to restore the natural recovery of walking
