Yes, and I've also seen people manifestly ignorant of film, literary, and musical history who assumed that what they've heard of first was the original just because they've heard of it first. I've found that I cannot make any assumptions about knowledge on this site particularly.

For making the obvious point that you can't easily tell the difference between a joke and ignorance.... It's hilarious how modest and unimportant the disagreement may be before someone reaches for the block button.

I can't imagine a WORSE poem than "The Raven" to pick to argue there's no more subtext to it than how much the poet likes ravens. Hell, at least pick a poem where the bird is portrayed positively like Shelley's "To a Skylark", instead of it being portrayed as a bird of ill omen.

Every poptimist comment on the discourse about orchestras playing movie scores live features someone talking about how this will bring new people to classical music in ways that show they themselves have NO IDEA what classical music is. The following comment is a case in point:

up the attention from, the classical music tradition. People are overstimulated and brain-fried from screens to the point where they cannot sit and appreciate music without a visual element for 1.5-2 hours. This is not a sign of a health, but a sign of the decline. Many comments

even express approval of this, as if they won't be happy as long as anyone else is in a position to enjoy the live performance of classical music, because when you can't appreciate something that you've been told all your life is high art then you resent the artistic for being so

It's deeply ironic to constantly be insulting me with phrases like "retarded piece of shit" while whining that I'm insulting NOT EVEN YOU but some third party when the 'insult' actually is pertinent to the point I'm making. You're obviously evading a point you cannot answer.

Hallelujah. I no longer have to parse barely comprehensible tweets that became even less so the more intemperate they got.

This is highly ironic, given how much George Orwell's 1984 is misunderstood by the far-right. Here we have the government erasure of history in real time.
A Roman history project in which I'm a participant figures in the recent judgement about cancellation of National Endowment for Humanities grants by DOGE.

One of his best yet.
Too many people have told me that Jesus would have no need of a ballroom. Jesus may be the Prince of Peace but he is also the Lord of the Dance. You have to understand, I believe God made me for a purposeโ€”to serve the American people. But he also made me a dancer and when I am out on the floor I feel his pleasure. Not to support this ballroom would be to hold him in contempt.

Hilarious! Instantly blocked by the oversensitive Trump appointee after I posted the following response to this tweet:

He's quoting John F. Kennedy, you dumbass. Does the Trump administration make appointments by how much of the quality of the named department the appointees lack? If so, that explains your job in Education.

The quote tweets are a joy. Ben Shapiro is another person who cannot recognize a JFK quote when he sees it.

Yet another person with a parasocial relationship with their favorite billionaire making shit up (it's not "her Met Galaโ€”it's an annual event and she just HAPPENS to be the co-chair this time) and blocking people after giving themselves the last word. So be it. Hopefully I can 1/

Manners requires that one give insincere answers to reporters when Beyonce, the supposed hostess, is nowhere near, just because she MIGHT see it sometime later and forget that it's okay for people to have different tastes in music and thus feel slighted? Do you people ever have a

This reminds me of my late cat, who would come running whenever he heard Mozart or Verdi on the radio (back when you could the Met Opera station on SiriusXM with a radio unit). I called him my Opera Cat.

I should have expected this block, since it's a response to her embarrassment over her increasingly contrived and blatantly false excuses, but nevertheless going out on a limb like that over such a trivial issue was a choice.

1/3 The Louisiana VRA decision could have been worse but only in the explicit sense. The court could have held that disparate impact violates the 14th amendment. But the fact that it didnโ€™t go that far is little consolation because long term the impact will likely be just as bad.

QM and just employ the science that they knew worked without worrying about what it all "meant" in a metaphysical sense. Feynman literally wrote the book on quantum electrodynamics. Positing him as an enemy of QM is blinkered pig-ignorance. 2/2

I guess I'll never know who those physicists were who were fired for being early adopters of QM. Alas!
