My song earworm... ♫ Dance then, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the Dance, said he, and I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the Dance, said he ♫

A moment that was strangely touching to me was when I was staying at my friend’s house years ago. As I emerged from sleep, I heard him ask from outside my door, “Is [Wylfcen] awake?” - gently, politely. I feel like that’s how it’ll be to find yourself in heaven after you die.

Today my earworm has been and still is... Aretha Franklin, I Say a Little Prayer.

Its not true that its all the same God. Years ago I read Craig Winn’s writings and listened to his audios that discuss this subject. He arranged the Quran chronologically and explained the whole history and contrasts why its not the same God, the different personal names, different personalities, different messages and different origins. I think his material requires first knowing Bible history and context quite well, but I guess his work can be studied as a stand alone subject too. I’m linking the archived PDFs and audio files just in case anyone out there is interested to go through it. ia601603.us.archive.org/32/i… archive.org/details/propheto…

No Reddit, Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God.

The reason why I went down this rabbit hole 20 years ago is because I was given an invitation to islam from one of my uni colleagues, so I began looking into it (not because I wanted to join but because he was giving me material comparing Islam to christianity and why it trumps it etc) I bought a Quran and tried reading it, finding it incomprehensible I discovered you cannot follow the quran without also having the hadiths and sunnahs and ideally knowing arabic, so I was looking for a resource to make sense of the religion, thats when I discovered Craig Winn’s website, Prophet of Doom. It doesn't exist now except for the archives, but it was brilliant for helping me have a good chronological understanding (because the quran is not chronological), and so yeah, its a good resource if someone has that interest.

Also, his narrative voice made me think of a Ned Flanders/Timothy Lovejoy hybrid character from The Simpsons.

I'm going to try this at the first opportunity
When I was in high school, I asked my biology teacher if I could be excused to go to the drinking fountain. I had the hiccups. “Sure,” she said. “But first, let me buy your hiccups from you.” “Huh?” “Humor me,” she said. “How’s a quarter sound? Fair?” “Sure.” She gave me the quarter—and hiccuped herself. I looked at it in my hand and realized my own hiccups were gone. “You can still be excused if you’d like,” she said. I’ve tried this on countless people since, and it works about 90% of the time. It’s a fabulous party trick.

I made this comment the other day and I want to share it because its something thats actually really important to me and I've just had an example of it working in real time. Just had the landlords gardener maintenence guy come round. Because my husband isnt here and its just me he has all these extra questions and persists with the questions even though I said I know nothing about anything, all questions can be directed to the letting agent or my husband as I havent read any agreements or arranged anything or do I know where anything is. I already knew he was going to play silly buggers simply from the tiny text exchange. Hes giving the hard stares while excessively talking to me. I look right back at him. Its only when I start looking at him right in his left eye that he breaks the stare and looks away. He couldn't handle it. Its a good way to stop anyone thinking they have the upper hand and taking the piss. Ive done this many times in the past with men when I feel a weirdness from them and I want them to back off.

I read an article decades ago that explained how the right side of the face is the side we display socially. Human beings have an unwritten agreement to always look each other in the right eye, we carry our social expressions on the right side of our faces. The left side shows how we really feel, whether that’s happy, sad, despondent, whatever the emotion is. That’s why they say the left eye is the window to the soul. A person who provides a stark example of this is Bill Gates, because you can clearly see on the right side of his face that he has this sickly sweet, compassionate smile that he wants to display to the world, but on his left side, he has a contemptuous sneer. It apparently happens for all of us, having asymmetrical expressions in themselves dont mean someone is a bad person but just that there is incongruence between what that person wants to express socially and how they feel internally. I remember the article went further and explained how, if you break the agreement and look at someone in their left eye, it makes them feel strangely exposed, they will apparently treat you nicer and be more honest with you.

I just think this is a good tip for people to know about and use when they feel they are being put under any pressure, whether its a sales person or just a person trying to have some sort of upper hand in a situation

Yesterday I learned that raccoons can memorise padlock codes. They can remember the code for up to a month. There is a small zoo in Essex, and the raccoons are the only creatures not to have coded padlocks in their enclosures. If they escaped, the whole zoo would have to close down apparently.

I'm going to make a massive vinegret today, I love eating it hot though, where I think its traditionally eaten cold.

Another amazing bicarb sleep. The only side effect is having to get up twice for a long wee, but then its straight back to deep sleep, no staying awake for ages. Its like the best sleeping & muscle relaxant substance I've ever had.

I’m going to try the ‘1/2 a teaspon of bicarb in water before bed’ thing tonight, see if it gives me ‘leet sleep

I took some, and I do feel considerably relaxed. My muscles feel heavier and softer, and I’m sinking into the bed much more than usual.

That was the best nights sleep I've had for a while. Definitely doing the bicarb in water before bed thing again tonight!
