⚡ 100,000 km in an EV: ₹7.19 Lakh Saved, 10 Tonnes CO₂ Offset & 476 Trees Planted In February 2021, I made a conscious decision to switch to electric mobility and brought home the Tata Nexon EV Prime XZ . Back then, Faridabad had no public chargers, and range anxiety was very real. But I believed in the future. It was time to walk the talk. Fast forward to July 2025: ✅ 100,000 km driven ✅ ₹89,500 total charging cost ✅ ₹85,000 total service cost (including wire harness repair) ✅ 7,700 litres of petrol saved ✅ 10,000 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided ✅ 476 trees worth of carbon offset ✅ ₹7.19 lakh saved in fuel alone 🔋 Technical Summary Vehicle Tata : Nexon EV Prime XZ Battery Capacity : 30kWh Avg. Consumption : 112Wh/km = 0.112 kWh/km Total Distance : 100,000km Total Energy Used : 100,000 × 0.112 = 11,200kWh Charging Cost : ₹89,500 → ₹0.895/km Service Cost : ₹85,000 (total including one major cost wire harness replacement) ⚙️ Charging Split Home Charging (BRIGHTBLU AC Type 2 Charger) : 82% = 9,184 kWh Public DC Charging (ABB) : 18% = 2,016 kWh 💡 All ABB DC chargers used were installed during my tenure as Country Business Head, ABB eMobility India. 💡I use the AC only when driving with family, not just to extend range, but to reduce overall energy consumption and minimize environmental impact with every kilometer 🌱 Environmental Impact ICE Car CO₂/km : 180g/km = 18,000 kg for 100,000 km EV CO₂/km (India grid avg. 24% RE) : 80g/km = 8,000 kg ✅ Net CO₂ Saved : 10,000 kg (10 tonnes) 🌳 Tree Equivalent : 10,000 ÷ 21 = ~476 trees planted⛽ Petrol Avoided : 7.7L/100 km → 7,700 litres saved💸 Fuel Cost Saved : ₹105/L → ₹8,08,500 – ₹89,500 = ₹7,19,000 saved 💡 What Enabled This? ✅ Willpower & Determination to make a change ✅ Smart home charging – 82% of energy drawn at home on BRIGHTBLU AC chargers, ensuring reliability and safety. ✅ Fast reliable public DC charging – ABB DC fast chargers, deployed by me, empowered intercity/intracity drives with confidence. ✅ Sustainable grid – Gurugram’s grid is now powered by 28–30% renewable energy, higher than India’s 24% national average.
