In our push for "cheap" and "secure" energy, the reality for UK consumers is our bills CONTINUE to rise. Today's news of a 13% price hike on domestic energy bills is another slap in the face for UK bill payers as the cost-of-living struggle goes on. Most notably in this latest change to the 'Energy Price Cap', which affects 30million accounts, the unit rate of gas has increased by 27.7% adding £183 to the average annual bill. The unit rate of electricity has risen by 5.8%. Below, to provide a more accurate view of the direction of our energy costs, we combine the per-kWh unit rate with the daily standing charge to give an equivalent unit cost per fuel.

Labour now £359 off energy pledge target! Despite Labour's pledge to lower energy bills by £300 by 2030, our LIVE TRACKER shows that UK domestic energy bills are now £359 behind target. Despite shifting some policy costs to general taxation earlier in the year, the cost of UK energy continues to rise. The latest Energy Price Cap puts UK energy bills at £1,862 (£1,787 in real terms compared to 2024). 👉 theenergyshop.com/cheaper-en…

Energy bills are about to go UP! 🚀 The sooner you act, the bigger your savings will be. The Energy Price Cap is expected to be announced next week confirming a 12-13% rise in domestic energy bills taking the average energy bill to £1,848. This will add around £210 per year, per customer. However, the cheapest "fixed" tariffs may be available right now, with prices rising steadily each week. In the last month alone, we have seen the cheapest fixed deal increase by almost 3%. Compare your energy tariff now using our FREE @ofgem accredited price comparison service.

⚡️ | Tomorrow, energy bills will fall by 6.6%, but that temporarily masks the reality of a 32.8% hike from July. Tomorrow, 1st April 2026, UK domestic energy bills will fall by 6.6%, saving the average home £116 per year. However, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the latest forecasts suggest energy bills will increase by 17.6% from 1st July 2026, with electricity prices rising by 9.3% and gas prices rising by 32.8%. That projection will put the average energy bill at £1,929.34. The highest level since July 2023. What this means in reality: Electricity 9.3% from £0.247 to £0.270 per kWh Gas 32.8% from £0.057 to £0.076 per kWh With little to choose from, consumers are advised to consider a "tracker" tariff to secure the very lowest price for the next 3 months, e.g. @eonenergyuk 'Next Pledge', which undercuts the 'Energy Price Cap' by £100.

Did the Iran conflict just derail @UKLabour's plans to reduce energy bills by £300? Just last week, when @ofgem announced the latest 'Energy Price Cap' to take effect from 1st April 2026, our live tracker put Labour ahead of target by £78.10 on the average UK energy bill, achieving an equivalent saving of £153.10 on 2024 bills. Now, with wholesale gas prices soaring, the latest industry predictions suggest the 'Energy Price Cap' could jump to £1,801 from 1st July 2026. In "real terms", that would put bills back to £1,728 in 2024 money, completely wiping out all the progress made to date. The current assessment window for the 'Energy Price Cap' runs until 18th May 2026, so let's hope wholesale gas prices fall in the coming weeks. Link: theenergyshop.com/cheaper-en…

⚡️ | Lower Energy Bills | Live Tracker With all the arguing over how well/badly @UKLabour are doing against their target to reduce energy bills by £300, we thought we'd put together a live tracker. It shows the adjusted average energy bill using ONS CPI figures, calculated to an equivalent 2024 price. As you can see, savings to date are around £153 per year. Inspired by the great work @SophyRidgeSky did yesterday interviewing @Ed_Miliband. Others who might be interested: @ClaireCoutinho, @DESNZ_stats, @MartinSLewis, @labourpress. ⚡️ | UK domestic energy bills to fall by 6.6% from 1st April 2026. Here is how this breaks down: 🔥 Gas Unit Rates ⬇️3.2% 🔥 Gas Standing Charge ⬇️17.1% ⚡️ Electricity Unit Rates ⬇️10.9% ⚡️ Electricity Standing Charge ⬆️4.5% For the average UK home using 11,500kWh Gas and 2,700kWh Electricity, this means your energy bill will look as follows: 🔥 Gas Bill = £766.28 ⚡️ Electricity Bill = £874.91 TOTAL = £1,641.19 Any decrease in energy bills is good news, but today's announcement only takes us back to April 2024 levels. Is this the start of the reversal? Will we finally start to see "cheap energy"?

⚡️ | UK electricity costs rose by 5.1% on 1st January, taking the average cost per kWh to £0.28. For context, the average UK home uses 9kWh per day, therefore costing £2.52. This doesn't include the £0.55 per day Standing Charge, which takes the total cost per day for the average Brit to £3.07. In total, for January alone, the average home will be looking at spending £95.17. NOTE: This is electricity only.

🤡 | The UK just reduced gas prices by -5.7% and increased electricity prices by 5.1%. COP30 is currently taking place in Brazil. 🇧🇷 Global CO2 emissions continue to rise. 📈 And now those who have invested in electrifying their transport and homes are seeing their bills increase by 5% against a wider average increase of 0.2%. If you genuinely want "cheap energy" and want to help the environment, the case for getting solar is growing stronger by the day. An intentional move by the UK government to boost solar installations or a horrific own-goal for Net Zero?

⚡️ | Energy prices are... GOING UP AGAIN!!!! Despite a 44% fall in wholesale gas prices since February, consumers across the UK will be starting 2026 with higher energy bills. The cost of gas per kWh will fall by 5.7% but the cost of electricity will increase by 5.1% from £0.264 per kWh to £0.277 per kWh. Whilst dual fuel bills will rise by £3 a year, this is masked by a £37.53 fall in gas prices and a £40.09 rise in electricity prices.

⚡️ | 15,000 customers of failed energy supplier - Tomato Energy, are being moved to British Gas. For now, the advice is to wait until your account has been fully transferred to British Gas and then run a comparison to make sure you're on the best possible tariff for your individual needs. ⚡️ | Energy bills rise for more than 22 million Brits! Today, energy prices increase by a further 2% taking the average domestic energy bill to £1,755 per year. If you're stuck on your suppliers 'Standard Variable' tariff, you are massively overpaying for your energy. Switch, fix, save...TODAY!

⚡️ | Draw your own conclusions. Wholesale gas prices are down by 44% since Feb. Energy prices are going up by 2% to £1,755. Rise blamed on increased transmission and "government scheme" costs. Wind generation stalling. Imports up to 20% of our electricity mix. Question: Does this reality match the narrative you're hearing about "cheap energy" and "energy security"?

We are proud to be involved in a front-page headline with @Daily_Express and have our comments backed up by the Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, @ClaireCoutinho. If consumers want "cheaper energy" right now, they must switch to a cheaper tariff. Waiting for prices to fall is going to cost you thousands.
As I’ve said all along. When Ed Miliband promised to cut bills by £300, it was nothing but a huge lie. We need to put cheap energy first.

⚡️ | Last week is was predicted that UK energy bills would fall by 1.3% saving the average home £22 a year. Instead, it is now forecast that energy bills will infact RISE by 1% adding £17 to the average bill. As consumers face continued price hikes taking the average bill to £1,737 from October, it is vital you switch to a cheaper tariff ASAP.

Next week, the 'Energy Price Cap' will fall 7% from 1st July 2025, saving the average UK home £130 a year. But, here is why this is a bad deal for more than 22 million UK homes. 👎 From 1st July 2025, the average annual energy bill will fall from £1,849 to £1,719. However, this reduction masks the fact that customers can save DOUBLE that amount by switching to a cheaper "fixed rate" energy tariff, which costs the average home £1,575 a year (it was £1,534 when we drafted this post yesterday, showing how fluid the market is). An extra £144 saving, taking the total to £274 per home! Collectively, that would reduce energy costs for 22 million UK homes by a further £3.1billion making the overall savings a staggering £6billion. Remember, the 'Energy Price Cap' is the maximum level energy suppliers can charge for customers on a 'Standard Variable Tariff'. If you are on this tariff, you are guaranteed to make savings by switching to something else. Don't get caught out by this latest 'Energy Price Cap' announcement. Take the red pill. 🔴
