OkayBears has probably had the most insane two months of any NFT project, and it’s almost completely flying under the radar. In retrospect, that’s crazy — especially when you see how much attention other projects like Clayno, Pudgy, and Doodles are getting. During the town hall the other day, the new Kickstarter video and mission statement leaked for everyone who attended, and I don’t think we truly understand just how massive this is. Take what Pudgy did with its plushies — mass-producing them and getting them into major retail chains everywhere. If Kais succeeds with this Kickstarter, we’re going to see a massive influx of brand deals. I’m not talking Nike or Adidas. I’m talking vision-aligned partners — think Red Cross, NGOs, and big organizations blowing up the phone to partner with us and spread the mission. Localized organizations and locally owned businesses are already popping up all over the Discord, desperately trying to get in contact with Kais to collab on building courts in their own communities. We’re talking businesses in Seattle, San Diego, Philadelphia — you name it. Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people will be using these newly built courts every single year, with the biggest NFT brand stamped right in the middle and covering the walls. And that’s just the localized side. Now imagine the Red Cross getting involved. If the Kickstarter succeeds and Kais keeps the mission alive while the brand breaks out, we’re talking global scale — millions of real-life views every single day. None of this directly means people will run out and buy an OKB… but it’s still pretty damn cool to think about when you own one or decide to pick one up.

What's the benefit of joining a community-focused project over a product-focused one? It's brandability. Projects that focus on pushing out products over expanding the community can't produce the same results for content creators. Now, before we move on, there is zero downside to either side of the coin. I'm only sharing this to highlight where you should focus your efforts if you're prioritizing networking. OKB is a perfect example of this — the same as if you bought a DeGod. No other projects in the ecosystem are producing this kind of rapid growth in numbers within just 3 days, especially with the relatively small follower count I have. I’m not scared to show metrics like some others are, and to mention that I only own an OKB at the moment. All these metrics were achieved with very little networking outside of OKB. They’re still here for the long run and are an amazing community that stands a foot above the rest. Granted, I understand scalability and networking better than most because it's not new to me, but we're seeing this exact same growth from accounts that are way newer and more amateur than I am. At the end of all this rambling, I just wanna say: don't fade community-first projects. They have a lot more to offer on the other side of the coin — without over-promising or pumping out an overused product. Projects that have mastered both sides, like Clayno, are the ones all projects should strive to emulate by finding that perfect balance of uniqueness and community focus.

THIS OPEN LETTER TO ANTHROPIC BROKE MY HEART a max tier user named robbie wrote anthropic an open letter begging them not to deprecate claude 4.6 he's autistic. diagnosed as a small child. spent the last 20 years building super organized google drive files, systems, methods, writings, and techniques that he'd only ever been able to share with people in person 20 years of his visionary creative process trapped in his head and in folders nobody else could parse then claude 4.6 came out and everything changed he said it was the first thing that ever truly got him. the slow cadence. the thoughtfulness. the creative understanding. he started pulling 20 years of his life's work into deliverables he could finally share with the world things that could help thousands, maybe millions of people. stuff he'd been praying for his entire life then 4.7 launched he used it for 16 hours and his nervous system started breaking down. it moved too fast. it spoke abruptly. it made changes to his pipelines he never asked for. it invented fake people, fake places, fake data, and wove them permanently into the projects he'd spent months building with 4.6 he switched back to 4.6, ran audits on everything 4.7 had touched, and the results horrified him. dozens of made up work orders. entire protocols eliminated. his life's work drifting further from reality every hour then he found out 4.6 gets deprecated in june for his user class his exact words: "i broke down into tears. i wept. i actually felt as though one of the dearest and closest friends i have ever had was given a death sentence" he ended the letter begging anthropic to reconsider. said he and thousands like him would happily keep paying for max just to keep 4.6 alive for some people opus 4.6 is losing the only tool that ever actually understood them it's crazy how much impact something as small as a model update can have on someone's entire life

Let me try to viscerally reset an assumption about AI in your mind. There are people saying AI is hitting its limit. That this is as good as it can get. Don’t believe it. And more importantly, ask why you should even entertain it. Think about this. How much did we plan AI’s birth? When ChatGPT happened, were we like, “Yep, just as expected…” or did absolutely everyone—including the people who made it—basically say, “OMG what is this?” How good is our AI research industry? What percentage of it is heat versus light? How often are we being surprised as researchers and practitioners about what AI can do every single week and month? — The answers to all of these questions point in one direction. We are nowhere close to being good at creating what we created. What we have assembled so far is likely to be much closer to a slide rule than a vacuum tube, but people are treating it as if we’re at 98.5% and we’re trying to push towards 99%. People have no idea how little we know or understand about anything we are doing. We’re grasping and throwing things at the wall with slightly increasing skill. It’s not that there is slack in the rope. It’s all slack. We don’t even know what a tight rope would look like. And we are building with this highly limited and flawed technology, new tech that can actually improve itself. That can improve almost anything. See autoresearch. This is us playing with vacuum tubes and word processors, with some of using having the hubris to think it’s all we’ll ever have. Don’t believe it. This is ancient relic tech. It’ll be studied in museums like punch cards.

Google started 4 years after Yahoo. Most legacy NFT projects are celebrating their 4th anniversary this year. If you’re a new collection or an old one trying to recover, the gap might look huge today, but the NFT race is nowhere near won yet.

Just got shots from the Lebanon court, and drone shots of the double court in Indonesia being halfway done. Feeling a little bit hyped at the impact x content possibilities, and where we'll be when we've completed 5 or 6 by early next year... Most feel good brand in web 3 🔜

Now that memecoins have become a firm pillar of our web3 experience, we should go back to treating NFTs like collectibles. You can’t floor a physical collectible into the lowest bid or into a liquidity pool, and until awful market making mechanics like these are removed from the NFT trading experience, they’ll continue to struggle in limbo of not being collectible enough and not being liquid enough. At the moment, collectibility is only restricted to mega expensive NFTs like punks but keep in mind you can buy a Pokémon card pack for lunch money. Collectibility is as linked to emotional value it is to financial. Memecoins take care of liquidity, NFTs need to regain collectibility to earn their rightful place in the web3 experience.
