The news lets politicians portray the criminal system as full of sociopaths when it's mostly just ruthless mass caging of poor people. I was a public defender for years. I never met more sociopaths than when I was at Harvard Law School or now when I talk to politicians a lot.

The research indicates Biden’s plan to hire another 100,000 police officers WILL increase arrests, incarceration and police violence ESPECIALLY for petty non-violent issues. Research also indicates these harms WILL be concentrated in Black communities. That much is crystal clear.

THREAD: One of our clients was an 11-year-old Black child taking a shower before bed when DC police burst into her bathroom, pulled back the curtain, and pointed guns at her naked body. Cops said they found a little marijuana on her dad (who didn't live there) two weeks before.
